I think Meldrick Taylor had the fastest hands in Boxing History.

When you watch his fight with Chavez, some of his combinations are so blindingly fast you wonder if were imagining it all.

It's a shame what happened to Taylor.

Roy Jones Jr or Meldrick Taylor for handspeed.

Jones was over all the fastest though.

This is the key, right here.

The heavier and taller the boxer, the longer their arms tend to be and thus the greater the distance (and time) it takes for them to extend fully and land a blow. This contributes to the perception that they are not as fast as fighters at lower weights.

    RJJ's reach is 8" greater than Taylor's.

RJJ was the fastest guy I have ever seen when you factor in his height and size. I'm sure there are some bantamweights and featherweights who have been faster, but from around 140+ I have never observed anyone as fast as he was. Roy was a phenom and epitomized 'fast-twitch fibers.'

Taylor was also unbelievably quick with his hands. But I think when you account for the size and reach differential, Roy was at least as fast and, I think, faster.

I am not a Roy Jones fan, but you have to give the man his due. He was a physical freak.
