Ali threw plenty, too. He landed, on average, less than one-in-three.

How about those stats you posted in the other thread? They were very interesting and are very relevant here.

So it's fair to use Manila against Frazier, but somehow Tyson wasn't himself anymore against Douglas?

This a very common Tyson argumentation style. Make a dozen exceptions for him but don't do the same for the boxer you're comparing him to.

No - you did worse, by including a post-Manila Frazier result.

Then compared that version of Frazier to a "Peak Tyson".

Except that you used 2nd Foreman fight against him, which is even worse...

Your laughing emoji won’t save you from “Down Goes Frazier!” Second fight is a footnote showing he couldn’t change.

Bundled in with that first fight, papi. It was known that Foreman would punch himself out if allowed to by the second one, but Joe proved to be no Jimmy Young.

Well...George Foreman is an ATG and on most top 10 lists, Muhammad Ali might be the greatest ATG ever...

Frazier's losses were not really anything to be embarrassed over, especially given that he was willing to keep fighting until the very end. Nobody ever knocked him cold, having him picking his mouthpiece up off the floor in a total braindead haze, nobody ever made him want to quit by biting someone's ear...

I have huge respect for Mike Tyson, but Frazier never got beat or quit like that.

All that said, I have HUGE admiration for Mike's fight with Lennox. That man was getting beat, borderline tortured by LL toward the end, and he kept trying. He even landed a decent uppercut right before getting pulverized. That man is top 10 ATG level FOR SURE.

But...I just don't see him on Frazier's level. It's just me, no disrespect for anyone whom does, I can see where they're coming from.

Rooney-era Tyson looks more impressive to me on tape. Tony Tucker, who was agile and had quick hands, threw 452 punches and landed only 174. He also looked really good against the fairly fast-throwing Tillis and Ferguson as well, despite being green. I'd love to see the punch stats for the FOTC. Having watched it a few times, I find it hard to believe Ali landed less than a third of his punches.
