At least in the British boxing scene it seems like the fault does not lie with the promoters, it's either the fighters or their managers. Love them or hate them, both leading British promoters (Hearn and Warren) have recently had their star fighters and even their prospects losing fights and then being afforded either rematches or a comeback path with TV coverage, they haven't fallen out of favour with the promoters. What I'm saying is promoters are giving fighters second chances if they take a risk and there is a reasonable safety net. Even on a shannon Courtenay level. Promoters know that as much as fans love a high flyer, they also love a great comeback. So who does the fault lie with?
Remember a similar thread not so long ago and one bright poster came back with this " so what's the option, unprotect your fighter " sort of shuts it down No ? keep well.
