If Stevenson collects 2-3 belts at 130 and the money is sufficiently enticing, I believe Loma could be persuaded to move back down for a showcase bout. Otherwise the fight would have to take place at 135lbs. At 130lbs, Loma decisions that kid in a tactical, purists' delight chess match. Loma hits harder, can approximate Stevenson's speed/mobility, and has a pronounced advantage in experience.
Yeah that's what I thought about Herring, a seasoned pro, tough guy, but he is 35 and he simply didn't possess the tools to make a close fight of it. His style was made for Shakur who I'd really like to see with the fighters mentioned in this thread.
Id love to see Stevenson fight Colbert after Valdez. But given the politics between Top Rank and PBC, that fight is probably gonna be pretty hard to make...
Since when was Loma ducking? Shakur's only been at the top level for a minute, settle down. Valdez on the other hand literally vacated a belt and ran up a division not to fight his mandatory in Shakur.
I love it how being 35 is old and a handicap. When Mayweather was 36 and schooled a young bull in Canelo everyone said Mayweather had the advantage because he was older and more experienced. Now Shakur beats a 35 year old champ and he is the one who has the advantage figthing and old man. I truly love reading the double standards on these forums LMAO!
In 17 fights, 15 of them world title fights, Loma has fought GRJ, Walters, Linares, Rigo, Pedraza, Teofimo, Martinez, Campbell, Sosa, Salido, Nakatani, Crolla, Marriaga Fought 10 world champions Beaten 8 world champions And unlike everyone of his P4P top 10 peers is routinely giving away huge/significant physical advantages and also unlike many of them has fought lots of big punchers He's supposed to fighting another former world champion in his next fight in Commey who he's getting trashed for facing by many even though Commey is ranked #4 by The Ring, is way way bigger than him and who he will be giving away 6.5'' in reach to, at least 14lbs in weight, who sports a KO 81% against natural 135 pounders not blown up 126 pounders like Loma is, and is coming off a HL reel KO win over the fighter who was robbed blind against Twink's next opponent Rolly This content is protected Commey would be by far Shakur's best win and he would body Shakur's best win Herring with ease Sit your ass down, son
And Loma is campaigning in a division where everyone is way bigger than him and was often giving away a significant amount of weight, reach or both down at 130 and even 126, not weight bullying little guys This content is protected This content is protected
There are just way too many people on here who dksab or are blinded by their natural tendency to be polarised into a certain position. Loma has not ducked anyone. He has a fight against a big 135 pounder. As @Serge has said he will face significant physical size disadvantages. He continues on this trajectory to test himself and get the rematch at Lopez, whom he will certainly dominate in their second encounter if it happens. Lopez knows this, which is why he continues to avoid fighting him again. Loma can still make 126 supposedly so after dust settles at 135 let's see if Loma versus Stevenson can be made and the most sensible weight. Shakur certainly looks talented and I have been watching him. I don't think he can beat Loma, but never say never, he is fast and skilled, but he doesn't have what you would categorise as heavy hands. If he can't hurt Loma I don't see how he can get a decision. Regardless of the fight between Loma vs Lopez, where the only dominant rounds were by an injured Loma, I still rate him p4p. He is fighting bigger men in every fight. He has dismantled very good fighters. He was the only person who could figure out and dominate Rigondeaux, and he did not utilise his size at all, pure speed, movement and ring iq. Just be happy with the chance to witness greatness. Noone will be talking about Bud Crawford and his tomato can list, except for what potential he had. They will talk about Loma, Usyk, and how they challenged themselves against good fighters.
