Louis destroy Briedis or Gassiev with ease? Listen, I know you're Captain Special sometimes but rein it in a bit there buddy.
If Louis is winning, he's winning whilst down on the cards, and this is coming from a 'Classicist'. As McGrain said, Usyk's plan against Joshua is perfect against Louis. Still, Louis will land at some point, he's too good and accurate not to, and then we'd see how Usyk would handle sudden, repeated, full weight combos. Joshua is bigger but will never be able to punch in the explosive, sudden, perfectly mechanical way Louis did. An Usyk win is very possible, however some of the arguments in this thread are disingenuous and some are just plain wrong. For example, Louis absolutely handled Carnera (6'6, 261lbs ripped, compared to Louis 196lbs), who was bigger and stronger than every top heavy today bar Fury. Size on it's own isn't a factor in this fight.
Louis dealt with boxers much bigger than him and that had packed quite a bit I think, I’d say Louis wins too but usyk is definitely a problem for Louis for quite a bit
When Louis lands anything, and I factor in he will, it'll be a single shot, not a combination. Usyk is too slippery to be hit with multiple punches of the kind Louis threw. Course Louis had really sharp hands, and while Usyk's chin is proven excellent he's been hurt with single shots in the past (against Bellew, Gassiev, Briedis, Nistor and Beterbiev off the top of my head), so it's perfectly feasible that Louis would hurt him as well. Would he be abe to follow up though? I'm not so sure. Usyk's powers of recovery, both physically and mentally, are excellent. Not sure where Carnera comes into the picture here. Louis could handle guys like that no problem, but how does that favour him against Usyk? Or have I missed part of the discussion here (got several contributors on ignore).
I mentioned Carnera in regards to pure size ('Size on it's own isn't a factor in this fight). Some on page 1 were saying that Louis outweighed all his opponents as if he would falter due to a bit of size differential. I just used it as a basic example to show that pure size arguments aren't enough. As for your first points, I agree. Usyk taking it wouldn't surprise me at all, in fact it is very feasible due to his southpaw style and caginess.
That's fair enough, though when people talk about size it's usually a given that they're referring to size combined with other world class attributes, not just size alone. I doubt even the most hardened size queen would back someone like Nicolai Firtha to beat Louis, for example, but a good argument could be made for Joshua due to the latter's other qualities.
Seriously, who the hell have they fought that had the power of Louis or tyhe finishing abitlity? He was a far better combo puncher than either of those guys.
