I feel the rematch fight between Pintor and Davila doesn’t get enough attention but this was a really great fight with some nice skills, amazing exchanges, and heart from both fighters. Beautiful scrap that I highly recommend checking out for those who haven’t seen it. I do wish that there was video of their first encounter. This content is protected
Lupe Pintor was one of those guys I loved to watch, but Davila brought everything he had. Was a close fight .
Good fight. I think Pintor pulled away in the championship rounds to take a deserved decision. Davila was a fine boxer but he was small and that combined with his lack of pop meant he always seemed to come up short against the very best.
Davila was a smooth technician and not negative either. Truly study worthy. Pintor however was the more dominant ring general, in my eye, and seemed to control the centre better. Man, I love these two fighters.
Davila looked magnificent in the first 6 rounds, even hurting Pintor in the 3rd round that almost dropped him. Pintor then took over and brought the heat to Davila with body shots on the inside. Pintor really came out stronger as the fight wore on but Davila still showed fighting spirit even as he got tagged more. It all came down to Pintor's cleaner punches and Davila's workrate. This is one of my favorite fights to watch and I always go back to it every year. Such a high level fight that was both grueling and technical.
Love this fight. The beautiful thing about so many Mexican fighters is that even when they are aggressive-minded and fight with a real sense of malice, they never forget their basics, their schooling. They still set up punches nicely, they still throw in combination, they still block and parry, everything. Pintor is the poster boy for this kind of professionalism.
@Flo_Raiden Hope you don't mind me bumping your thread i just watched this fight, definitely needs more attention a great contest. Lupe Pintor vs Alberto Davila 2 1 Pintor 2 Davila 3 Davila 4 Pintor 5 Davila 6 Davila 7 Pintor 8 Pintor 9 Pintor 10 Pintor 11 Davila 12 Pintor 13 Pintor 14 Pintor 15 Pintor 145-140 Pintor Love this fight a great contrast of styles the boxer against the puncher, i feel like Davila had the better of it early on with his counter punching and quick hands getting in and out beating Pintor to the punch. The 7th round was the turning point in the fight for me when Pintor brutally invested to the body punching going to work like a surgeon, and from that point on i felt like Pintor had the better of it for most part landing the harder/more effective punches. I have to say i love Pintor's body punching and his uppercut is a peach of a punch aswell. I do feel like the judges were a bit kind to Davila, no doubt he was competitive throughout the fight and started the fight well. But i feel like Pintor won pretty much every round in the 2nd half of the fight and run away with it somewhat. Overall a great fight though very underrated definitely one of the better Mexican clashes i've seen.
