I feel the term is overused nowadays, a close fight that is split by a point is considered "a massive robbery".

Prime example of this being Ali vs Norton 3 imo, you can have Norton ahead by a point of or two. But I don't agree with the "MASSIVE ROBBERY THAT DENTS ALI'S CAREER!" crowd.

What do you consider a robbery and how close do you consider it to not be one?

Remember when James Kirkland fought Carlos Molina? That was hilarious. Molina fighting a totally negative fight, holding like a mother****er, but still, Kirkland wasn’t landing ****! Molina’s trainer steps in the ring a little too soon and Golden Boy rushes to pull the plug on this one post haste

Kirkland was totally gonna lose on the cards but ended up with a DQ win even though we’ve seen this happen hundreds of times.

Most "robberies" are actually just close fights. If a close fight can go either way, people call it as a "robbery". I saw true robberies very rare in boxing.

One that nobody talks about is Mauricio Herrera vs José Benavidez. That one pisses me off to this very day, Herrera schooled that kid and made him look very stupid. That's a fight I would call a highway robbery.

You’re quite right - close rights always get termed robbery. It’s boring and ignorable if I’m honest.

A terrible scorecard is one I’d rather highlight as they often get overlooked if the right person won, like scoring Canelo - Mayweather a draw.

Some journeyman was robbed against Campbell Hatton few months ago, biggest robbery I’ve seen in years.

Also Callum Smith getting decision over John Ryder another stupid hometown decision.

Canelo GGG 1 was an atrocity. Second fight was at least closer.

It's not overused. A fight can be close /competitive and still be a robbery. Someone may view a fight a robbery when they fully believes one fighter has no case for winning more than 5 rounds yet gets the decision. This happens time and time again but people continue to blag on with this even more annoying phrase "it can't be a robbery if it's a close fight".. **** off

Exactly, you can have a close, competitive fight that is a clear win one way or the other due to RBR scoring.

Yeah also Adelaide Byrds ludicrous 118-110 to Canelo against GGG. Golovovkin won both fights clearly in my book & the majority of other ringsiders
