I'm not really interested in seeing if any of the top guys can "clear out the division" i.e. beat no-hopers like Parker, Pulev and co. I'd like to see them in with genuine threats i.e. each other, or people like Joe Joyce, or some of the younger guys (who are probably waiting for the current top guys to fade away first before taking a chance). The drop off from Joshua's best win, which was 4 years ago against Fury's sloppy seconds in a bout that he went life and death in at Wembley, is hilariously bad. Who's Joshua's second best win? Old Povetkin, who was never a world champion himself and had just been dropped by David Price?
Chisora is a pudding, but no more a pudding than some of Joshua's "top 10" wins that I keep hearing about. Chisora won the European title against Gerber.
People either don't care, or ignore, the fact that Fury often faced evenly matched opposition relative to the stage in his career. That's why he was having competitive fights with men we now call puddings like Pajkic. When Fury fought Chisora the first time, it was an evenly matched bout and even the second time people were picking Chisora. There's a lot to be said about this.
Tyson Fury is a living legend, Tony Dosh PPV is a living looter - huge difference. In football terms Fury has won away at Anfield and Etihad, Joshua has won at Ewood Park and has an actual 100% loss rate at Premier League Grounds
Joshua had some genuine spite earlier in his career. The only way I see him beating Usyk is if he gets some of that back. Although I think it might have been suppressed for good following all the media training, pandering to sponsors and appearing on the Graham Norton show.
Skimmed through it, as I couldn't bear to sit through an hour of joshua going on about nothing. So from what I saw, he seems very confused and short of confidence. He gets done in the rematch, this time inside the distance. It doesn't matter how he approaches it.
I don't think Joshua would cope with a motivated Chisora - Joshua was banging out puddings but that dried up when he starting facing mediocre fighters such as Takam and Parker. Usyk took his best no problem as did Rice Pudding Ruiz Jnr. Chisora just needs to get close and unleash a few then Jack it Joshua will fold.
He’s a bit like Man Utd right now. Lots of attacking options but vulnerable defensively so uses negative tactics in an attempt to cover the glaring weakness. Playing champions league but only operating at europa conference league standard. Needs go back to the old style that got them gold.
Said the same thing for a while on here. Chisora would give joshua a proper fight. Hes landed on everyone hes fought in recent years. Almost knocked parker over with the first punch of the fight. He doesnt look great but his style is a definate test for joshua. Chisoras workrates very good nowadays...hes stronger than hes ever been and punching harder than he ever has. Thats not great for a chinny guy...that has stamina and heart issues. Its not that chisoras brilliant its just his style will ask questions of joshua. For me thats what joshua should do now...forget usyk. Get a new trainer and get a fight signed. Then get chisora for the next one and build from there. He needs to answer the questions in the ring himself if he really wants to learn instead of textbook learning...that on the face of it means nothing when you,ve learned constantly from a big team of guys...and yet dont know you,ve to try bang usyk out when your down on the cards trying to box him with four rounds to go.
I think he knows he's got to change things up to give himself a chance of beating a usyk or fury which anyone can see..Lennox Lewis did it mid-career after a brutal loss when he went to emanuel steward but he had a couple of years training with him before going for a title again.joshua isn't as good Lennox so beating usyk is very unlikely imo.
Haha it really must hurt if you cant dare mention that title win vs Stiverne. Those defences vs Molina, Duhapas, Spilzka, Arerrola, Washington surely are legendry.
This is an odd thread. It appears from what people are saying is that the only wins worth anything on a HW's resume are Fury, Wilder, AJ, Usyk and Wlad. By that token, we have: Fury - 32 fights. 4 notable fights (3 wins - Wlad, Wilder X 2 / 1 draw - Wilder) Wilder - 45 fights. 3 notable fights (2 loses - Fury X 2 / 1 draw - Fury) AJ - 26 fights. 2 notable fights (1 win - Wlad / 1 loss - Usyk) Usyk - 3 HW fights. 1 notable fight (1 win - AJ) Wlad - retired So, by the logic shown in this thread, only Usyk has a good HW resume. Bottom line, anyone bumming one fighter and insulting another out of Fury, AJ and Wilder, is not being objective as they have largely avoided each other for a variety of reasons, and outside of the fights against the aforementioned fighters, by the logic shown in this thread, all other wins are meaningless as all other fighters are bums. Personally, I rate wins over people like Whyte, Chisora, Takam, Ortiz, Parker, Ruiz, Povetkin and Wallin. They aren't great, but outside of the top guys the current HW division is average at best. All you can do is fight the best fighters of your era.
