What if: Jim Corbett with high definition color film vs Bob Fitzsimmons

I know people try to color it and up the pic with mix results. But it is still far from HD lol.

 

I don't think so ,most of the fight went as Corbett expected,with him outboxing the foxy Cornishman,but Fitz did not get discouraged and Corbett began to feel the effects of the pace he had set and Fitz's punches.Fitz had fought Steve O Donnell who had the same manager as Corbett, so he knew what Fitz brought to the table.

Studying film is a big part of camp for some guys. If he was the only one back then one only wonders how much he could have dine with an exclusive "cheat sheet"

 

Agreed. Corbett was actually quite impressive in there against Fitz and it seemed that Fitz was only able to begin coming on when Corbett began to gas. I was surprised by Corbett's aggressive combo that put the durable Fitz down in rd 6 and for the greater part of the fight, Corbett had all the control. It seem Corbett knew all he needed to know re Ruby Robert but his stamina was over tapped and his prior several years of inactivity didn't help of course.

As to high def., I'm not sure I'd want to see Corbett in those trunks any clearer than we've already been subjected to. Nor Fitz for that matter, though his trunks look relatively modest by comparison. Or, at the very least, we need to CGI i some normal boxing trunks on those guys. I know it was the gay nineties but you gotta draw the line somewhere....

 

Come on, Corbett knew what to wear in the ring. Oddly when you see hand draw fight pics of Corbett, he is in shorts vs Sullivan or Jackson, but was he wearing a thong in real life? I am shock the Corbett fashion did not catch on.

 

Ready availability of film was a big game changer.

Corbett very likely attended some of Fitzsimmons fights, for the reason that he might have to fight him some day.

I don't think it would change the outcome. Corbett likely saw Fitzsimmons fighting before the fight and he did everything he could to beat Bob. Ruby was simply a better fighter and long scheduled fight didn't help Jim either.
