Which cities or regions in history punched way, way above their weight in producing top fighters? And why?

Roger Mayweather made a thing of it.

He was right. It's frightening how many great fighters come from that region.

Puerto Rico, and to get specific the San Juan area. Gomez, Trinidad, Benitez, Vasquez, Camacho, DeJesus, Escalera to name just a sampling that all come from within a very close proximity.

Mexico City too. From Tepito alone, Zarate, Medel, Azteca, Zamora, Rodolfo Martinez and then push across to the next neighborhood and you’ve got Olivares and Saldivar close by. Then you’ve got the whole city which has many more.
