And Plant is the naturally bigger man as well. Ima big Canelo fan, but the notion that he is some kind of power puncher now and will go in there and somehow knock Caleb Plantivech out is a little mind boggling.. canelo started as a 140 pounder ffs, all his fights against elite level fighters went the distance. Think about it, Plant is very good technically, has a pretty good chin and fast feet. These type of fighters have given Canelo problems before. Not saying plantivech is going to win, but he definitely has a chance here. Im going to go out on a limb here and say that if Plantivech goes 12, there will be alot of posters claiming he somehow got shafted. Win or lose Plant will put his name out there, and will not be an easy win for Canelo.
His defence ain't spectacular. He has too predictable head movement. He gets countered generally but loses rounds barely because of his handspeed and bum opponents. Canelo gonna maul him with uppercuts, overhands and left hooks.
Saunders was slicker than bacon grease too and look where it got him. I'm no Canelo fan, but I wouldn't bet on Plant with Monopoly money.
Okay I will stand corrected....not spectacular but flashy. He is a bit more technical than Saunders, still don't see how he beats Canelo. You need firepower to keep Canelo honest.
Is Plant really a more notable win at super MW than someone like Jeff Lacy.. both hyped up fighters with fairly poor resumes.. Lacy could genuinely bang tho and had extensive amateur experience… A lot of the people that are hyping up the likes of plant probably shat on Lacy for years after that win
I saw him make his opponents pay in all his major fights. Not sure where this narrative comes from watching a highlight reel.
Canelo vs Plant is easy to predict Plant outboxes Canelo early, gasses out, then Canelo knocks him out. Plant gasses out late in every single fight. Against Canelo means Plant is getting put in his back.
Plant is not even remotely as hyped as Lacy. In fact, most American fight fans don't rate the kid at all. You're uncharacteristically off point on this one, Liquorice.
Yeah, he was touched up a bit against Truax. Still, he's definitely one of the best defenders in the class. He's not as good as Alvarez or possibly Saunders, but a bit better than someone like Ryder.
