No one alive today was around when Ortiz was in his prime, so it's hard to say.

AJ has already beaten far better men than Ortiz.

    What is Ortiz's best win?

Jennings...and his best win is Mike Perez

That isnt anywhere near AJ level

AJ paralyses this ancient cuban bum

Ortiz couldn't even beat Wilder in two attempts. What chance does he have against Joshua?

Ortiz already ducked Joshua, refusing $7 mill, he never wanted any part of Joshua.

Biggest problem Joshua would have with Ortiz is getting him to sign the contract. Ortiz tried to cherry pick his way to a title when he gave up on his IBF mandatory position and jumped ship from Matchroom to PBC and signed to fight Wilder, he never wanted any part of Joshua, much like he never wanted any part of Povetkin when he was twice mandated to fight Ustinov to become Povetkin's mandatory.

Joshua is the worst heavyweight in history according to the LDBC...you'd think that 7 million was a sure thing.
Imagine being 52 years old and you duck a 7 million $ payday - the highest in your career

    By Wilder fan logic

Ortiz ducked Joshua for 7 million
Wilder ducked Joshua for 100 million
Fury ducked Joshua to fight Wilder (I don't actually believe this, again - Wilder fan theory)

    = Joshua is the boogeyman

    Usyk then beats Joshua

= Usyk is the unified boogeyman :eek::eek:

Just theoretically, if Joshua had fought Ortiz, what exactly is the plodding one two puncher going to do against a man much younger, faster, harder hitting and superior in both reach and pedigree? Prime or not he never beat anyone with anywhere near the same attributes as Joshua, and his one moment in the first Wilder fight he couldn't capitalise on. He simply never proved at any stage of his career to be able to beat a man of Joshua's quality.

And what exactly is a prime Ortiz anyway? The one that was beating the likes of Monte Barrett and Lateef Kayode? Or the one fighting Zack Page and Kendrick Releford?

We don't know much about prime Ortiz since it was before camera's were invented.

I would expect AJ to win, his achievements and resume are far greater than Ortiz'.

Current, shattered confidence Joshua? Close fight. I'd give a slight edge to Ortiz.

To everyone bringing up Joshua's BRILLIANT resume: who had Andy beat before he made Joshua quit in the corner? His best win at the time was....Dimitrenko?

Who had Usyk beat at HW before he completely outclassed Joshua and had his corner waving the towel? An old as hell Chisora?

Ortiz has a bit of a mythical prime, but he is a southpaw with skills which we know for a fact is something Joshua will struggle mightily with.

I,d take ortiz to win that. He was a very skilled man that would have performed better against better opposition. His problem was they kept putting him in with inferior opponents when he was a counter puncher. The opponents wouldnt really go forward enough for him to really make them pay with his counterpunching... reckon if you did try to tho he,d have punished you for it.

Wilder just fought a good fight...cut back on his punch output...to give ortiz less chance to counter and with wilders shots being so fast he was hard to counter...even fury waited for him to stop punching mostly before pushing on him.

But joshua throws out lazy shots at times and is easier to counter...i reckon ortiz would have beat him. Big lump ortiz could take the punches pretty well just that wilders punches harder to see coming and more knockout power.

Joshua easily. Ortizes best win is Jennings.
Ortiz also has horrible punch resistance and no stamina.
