Canelo has proven himself to be an incredible fighter, certainly better than I thought he was. But from the beginning the problem I had with him was how his team carefully selected who he was fighting, at what catch weight, etc. The odds have always been stacked heavily in his favor, including judges, because he is such a cash cow for boxing. But perhaps the worst aspect is his smugness and self-love. If there is a big screen in the arena and he is on it he is looking at it. What I also can't figure out is why his opponents stand in there with him when half the time he is throwing from the bleachers. He winds up. Unlike any other fighter, he never seems to catch a guy with a good counter. He catches guys when they are shelled up and he is punching as hard as he can. That's just not the norm in boxing. I still think Beterbiev would be the next logical fight for him. It is a winnable fight for him but, of course, it is a winnable fight for Beterbiev as well, which is why Canelo will probably not take it.
Well you see, the problem I have with BOXING is dudes fighting once a year and that one fight being a keep busy fight. While Canelo is fighting 4 times a year and has claimed to fight ANOTHER 4 times in 2022 (8 times in 2 years with elite competition? Cmon man that's crazy!) So while it may not be the perfect fighter or perfect set up for a fight, the man deserves his credit.
Clenelo has juiced himself into a hulking brick house of a destroyer. You can't physically push him back because he's so thick set and powerfully built. And he's hitting hard as a mother****er right now. Equilibrium destroying shots.
Canelo will take it but let’s have Charlo and Benaivides first. Beterbiev is not essential but a nice to have.
Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders and Caleb Plant within a year is an unparalleled streak within recent boxing history.
You can microdose, you can use masking agents, you can time your cycles and if you have enough access to money and resources you can get the best PED scientists money can buy.
All three guys looked like hot garbage in their last few fights. Smith schooled by Ryder and got a gift. Saunders has looked like ass for literally years. Plant had Lee, Feigenbutz, and looked poor against old and shot and never that good Truax.
he’s juiced to the max. So that makes him a little tough to root for and he is beatable but I love that he fights frequently and he does take on good competition. He makes exciting fights. Much better to have him as the face of the sport than someone like Mayweather whose defense was beautiful but turns off lot of casuals with stinker fights
I don't understand ONE thing. How is Canelo good for boxing ? When you see so much corruption in the sport and how many times he needs help from outside of the ring. Plus he is a DIVA - always needs to have an advantage over his opponent, NO real Warrior needs so many things to fight. But biggest problem is his fanboys. Blind followers, who will always say that everything is acceptable if you bring money.
If Beterbiev isn't essential from a fan's perspective, Charlo certainly isn't. Jermall might be throwing his hat in for a payday, and he may even get it if Canelo decides he can't turn down the casual dollars the fight could generate, but he's done nothing at SMW. Benavidez, sure, but Charlo will be seen as a waste of time from the point of view of most seasoned boxing fans.
like other people have said hes so juiced to the max its crazy... and his fanboys/girls are untolerable.. i actually liked him in his early career and was a fan.. but i turned on him after the lara fight... his fans also made it had to cheer him.
