I love Plant’s defense, so slick and awesome to watch. I hope he doesn’t retire

Ten million plus thirty percent of PPV, so more like fifteen million dollars.

    Retirement.

benavidez and charlo are both sellable fights. munguia would be another entertaining pay day. he has options, he delivered well enough against canelo that one can expect him to be competitive against all these guys. bjs would probably do well in uk.
if he keeps the right mindset, this fight will make him much better. he can run the tape and see where and why he failed, then hit the gym to correct that weakness. he has tools, he has heart, all he needs is reality to direct him.

It is a pretty weak division. Plant can easily work his way back to the top contender. The fact that Lemieux is top 5 in most of the orgs ranking shows how weak the weight class is.

With less than half the fights and experience of Canelo, Plant still did pretty good. He should see this experience as a lesson rather than a failure. When you are undefeated there is little stimulus to think about some things, but now you can see where you need some improvements. His defense is good, maybe he can bring the hands up more in some instances especially late in fights. His style is a lot about 1 or 2 punches and then move, even when he's practicing or on the bag, so maybe sit down on some punches and more combos, make that right hand a weapon. He could also fight taller in some fights instead of bending into shots, he did a decent job clinching, but Ward didn't teach him too much how to negate and push opponents back or work on the inside. You do all that work, then as soon as you un-clinch, your opponent is first again and clocks you. When your opponent resets, you need to be first.

That was a big occasion and he may have been anxious/nervous early on, his punches were not solid, he wasn't punching with authority, later on in the fight he seemed to relax more but still needed more punches from the outside. Now he knows that he can do well against the best so it should help him. Plenty of time for Plant to work on and fine tune things. There's another very good pressure fighter in that division waiting for him so he has a chance to prove what he can do. Can you keep fighters that are coming at you with full leverage all night with just popping some shots. Gotta expand your arsenal. Go away from that thinking your are the next Floyd and expand, but even Floyd at his best weight class could unload with relentless combos not just pop shot you.

If I am plant even at 29 I'd consider retirement

think about it 5 -10 million in the bank, he isnt getting that super middleweight title back

He has his brains and senses mostly in tact

Look at Hamed clear as day in interviews after retiring at a simular age. He'd be wise to take his money and run for the hills

Move up to 175, maybe you'd get a little more power in your punches. Plenty of fights to be had at 175.

He's pretty much done as a top fighter. He might as well retire. He can't fight at 175 as he has no power, and 168 is all Canelos.
