How can't people see through Canelo's blatant weight jumping cherrypicks? It's glaringly obvious. He also stacks the deck high in his favour, is obviously juiced to the gills and participates in fixed fights (Kovalev and Yildrim). He's also robbed a 35-6yo past prime Golovkin twice (both of which were 8-4 fights to G), Lara and had a razor thin fight against Trout.

He should be excluded from any p4p list based on this. No one knows how Canelo would do against 50-50 prime non stacked opposition. Every 7-5, 8-4 fight (as shoudl be scored for the opposition) always magically goes to Canelo.

The manufactured boxing machine/industry is desperately trying to alter and create a false narrative because Canelo brings megabucks and stupid easily fooled fans (there are a huge number of these) into the sport. Joke sport ruined by money. Or let's say circus show

Anyone claiming Canelo should be anywhere near Usyk on the P4P list don't care for boxing as a sport. Usyk is miles ahead in terms of resume and skillset.. Not even debatable

Loma is the most skilled boxer on the planet, one of the most skilled ever.
If all boxers were the same size, Loma would reign supreme over everyone.

Teofimo is a quite a bit larger than Loma + Lomachenko would beat him in the rematch, the last 5 rounds of their fight showed that.
Loma had a terrible gameplan, waited for Teo to tire but he never did, his father is to blame more than Loma himself.

Just a reminder that p4p is a consolation prize for the lil guys. The Gypsy King is the king of boxing.

I like the metrics that compubox put together in late 2018 for establishing a pound for pound criterion. They put the stats on Lomachenko, Crawford, and Inoue side by side to show who was better at hitting opponents and making them miss.

Other than record, shouldn't that be the criteria we use to establish who's the best boxer?

With that in mind, does Canelo land more accurately or make his opponents miss more consistently than these other three? Anybody got stats on that? In the Plant fight Canelo landed 32.4% of his shots while Plant only landed 22.9%. If that's an average fight for him then he's less skilled offensively and defensively than the other three.

According to these stats, it looks like he's more accurate but more hittable than the others. I wouldn't say that he's better offensively either because they appear to throw and land more punches per round too. Crawford and Alvarez appear to like a slower pace than either Inoue or Lomachenko.

I wonder where Roman Gonzalez would rank in this? OTC%=24.5 PTPR=89.2 Average Punches Landed Per Round is 32.4 Average Power Thrown per Round is 66.2 Jabs Per Round 23 Jabs Landed 4.7 Power Landed 27.7 Total Connect % 41.8. So his Connect Percent minus his opponents is 17.3. That would place him above Lomachenko, Inoue, Crawford, and Alvarez, but below Bivol.

I don't think it should be too major of a criterion, Lopez gets hit more than Loma but he still put a beat down on him and could have stopped him. Loma may hit more than Inoue for every hit he receives, but two years from now there will be no doubt on who is/was the better boxer. "Hit and don't get hit" is the name of the game, except Inoue will split your face in two and Loma loses a fight for every 7 he wins.

Also, this implies Bivol is pound for pound best boxer. No measurement is perfect but you can tell this one is way worse than resume for that alone.

Prefer Usyk by a long mile.

No peds, deck stacking, weight draining games there. Wins in the opponent's backyard.

Resume? Are you serious, Canelo has one of the best resumes in boxing today. Better than Usyk. Number 2 on many posters p4p lists isnt bad, just embrace it.

Canelo has got a great resume.

Has he got the better wins though?

    Do a comparison.

The CW’s that Usyk fought still fly under the radar today with most fans. They haven’t got the name value that some of Canelo’s opponents have. But for me, I think Usyk has the better wins. Especially when looking at the GGG fights.
