I would expect Wlad to late stop JL but we just saw a smaller man school someone not too dissimilar so it's a live contest.
Wlad wins and I haven't boxed. I feel that they actually have similar styles, basing their game off the jab. Louis is the better combination puncher and more fluid. However Wladimir is lighter on his feet, controls distance better and has bigger 1 punch power. The bugbear comes in when you've got two jabbers and the one has a 76 inch reach vs 81. Klitschko is significantly bigger and I feel this will be problematic for Louis. Joe will have to make a plan to get into Wlad's range and his footwork is optimised for power, not so much for closing distance. Wlad fights like a rabbit, always on the retreat when the other guy comes forward. There's a reason for this. He wasts the other guy to try and lunge in, lose his stance and balance and make himself vulnerable to that sledgehammer right. I feel Wlad is all kinds of wrong for Louis and that it's a combination of both size and style.
Wk has no problems as long as he controls the distance, but he better take out Joe In 5 rounds or less - otherwise the match could get interesting. Several Amateur Boxing matches.
No, but it might be enough to get you a UFC contract if they have names like Chico, Big Mac, or Dreads.
My mistake; poll closes in a week. Interesting results so far, though. It's basically an even split, with no real pattern of boxing vs nonboxing voters. People with boxing experience are split down the middle; nonboxers are an insignificant 5-4 margin for Wlad. If people liked this format (and I'll say that I, personally, found it enlightening), I'll have to do it again sometime with other contested matchups.
I disagree on who wins, but these are some good points. Wladmir can do some of the things Louis does and has significant size advantages. Louis would no doubt face some frustration having to reset any time he gets close. The referee, who wins the battle of jabs, and who conserves their stamina better would probably be the 3 main contributing factors to decide the winner.
Joe Louis looked good against mostly smaller guys who weren't heavyweights by modern standards. The bigger guys he fought like Abe Simon, Buddy Baer, and Primo Carnera were extremely crude and slow. Joe Louis could barely handle light punching 170 pound Billy Conn's power. There is no way he could handle Wladimir Klistchko's power. Wlad had a poor chin but every guy who knocked him out were at least 230 pounds I believe. Joe Louis on the other hand was knocked down by numerous sub 200 pound guys. Wlad would destroy Joe Louis. If Louis made it past a few rounds it would be a miracle.
