IF he makes the HOF? Good Lord.

The fact that a past his prime GGG arguably beat Canelo twice (i think he did) is a very strong argument for his greatness.

The fact he stayed at 160 is not a negative, Thats stupid. We are at a point where people jump around too soon. I respect someone actually staying and dominating a division.

I think only SRR & Hagler are CLEARLY ahead of GGG at MW. You can reasonably argue Hopkins or Monzon on resume. Greb, depending on your feelings there. RJJ maybe head to head, but he wasnt at MW long. But GGG is clearly elite historically at the weight.

And yes, Canelo's people strategically waited on GGG to age a bit.

I think if he wins in Dec. I think he needs to retire. Another fight with Canelo wont end well at this point.

You give it a rest .. I say he was robbed twice in two fights he deserved. Now he's mocked because he didn't move up ? Again, Hagler and Monzon.. direct question .. do you not rAte them as great middleweights because they did not move up ? Specific response to that question ..

You responded to a post saying he never dared to be great by putting it in a nice little box about moving up in weight. Weight wasn’t even mentioned.

I named the fighters he failed to fight during his title. Since losing to Canelo for the lineal title and being put in his place by D-Chenko, he has now festered for several years in a division with Jermall Charlo, Demetrius Andrade, Munguia, and Lara, and failed to fight any of them.

He will go down a lot closer to guys like Sergio Martinez and Felix Sturm than guys like Tito Trinidad, and paramount to that is that his best career victory is a questionable decision over Danny Jacobs.

You’re talking to yourself about something that nobody is debating. How’s the latest documentary coming?

Different eras back then. It was more common for fighters to stay put at a weightclass and defend their title. GGG has not been relevent since the last Canelo fight and that will hurt his legacy. No ones fault but his. All he did was call out 154 lbers all the while feasting on no hopers

What GGG needs to do is tell clen boy to go suck a egg.We all know he's really beaten Clen TWICE!
Ginger had to rely on his helpers to gift him corrupt decisions.

That's my point he was way more popular than ward people keep saying it because he's from Kazakhstan that he didn't make it big but he was popular and had a hardcore push from HBO the reason he didn't make a mark was he took a half step up but wouldn't go all the way

For a long time on here I was a big GGG supporter going on and on about how good he was and how he kept getting ducked and once he got his big chance he would prove his greatness. I felt he was going to destroy Canelo and that Canelo was ducking him like everyone else. I felt that despite not having an elite win he would be a handful for guys like Ward and Hopkins though I never said he could beat them.

Canelo vs GGG 1: I remember being very excited for this one and watched this with my brother and as above stated expected a big KO win. The opening 3 rounds were pretty close and GGG was unable to really connect on anything besides his jab. Canelo spent time on the ropes and in the corner and GGG could not get the bombs to him and the nasty body punching we had seen all throughout his reign was non existent. Though the fight was competitive I scored it for GGG and thought like most did that he was hosed. However, I felt that he underperformed to my expectations.

Canelo vs GGG 2: I was excited for this one but sort of expected Canelo to win the fight. The fight played out very differently and I had it a draw the night of. I came away more impressed with Canelo than Golovkin. In subsequent viewings my score changed though I think my last viewing I had it at 115-113 Canelo

In the aftermath I felt he lost to SD despite the close win on points so officially he is 2-1-1 against his three best opponents with no knockouts. I dont think this means he is a fraud as some on here claim but for me it takes some shine off of him for me historically. This may be a case of what could have been with him missing the chance to face Martinez and Cotto and Sturm. It also may be that I set the bar too high and that if I graded him without going along with the hype I would have rated him more conservatively thus less damage would have been done to my overall assessment. That said Canelo has earned his keep as a legitimate middleweight titlist and as an undisputed super middle weight when for a while it seemed he was a caneloweight guy not moving up and seeming too big for 154 but too small for 160. Maybe I need to fully consider Canelo's standing when measuring it toward Golovkin.

I think my biggest gripe with Golovkin since Alvarez is that he is constantly chasing and wanting the 3rd fight when it looks so unlikely to happen. GGG cried foul when he couldnt get certain fights but now there are good prime guys like Charlo and Andrade who want to fight him and he does not seem to entertain it. Crazy enough I think he would beat them, well now with his age and activity my certainty has waned but my gut still says GGG wins.

Hoping to see Golovkin get a shot at redemption with one more big fight Alvarez or not
