Any ideas what’s going on with him? Seems to have fell off the radar. Is he moving up to 154 and when’s he back fighting?
Apparently he has had something going on he is not allowed to talk about. No idea what it is. But i heard him mention it and Adam Booth mention it and saying it will all be revealed soon. Not sure if its a contract issue or something deeper like and adverse scan or something
Did hear him mention personal stuff but he didn’t delve any deeper. I still rate him, hope he gets active soon.
Yeah I had heard something was going on in the background. Very talented fighter but uses so much unnecessary movement in fights especially early on which I think, combined with making 147, means he's blowing after 4 rounds. Not a huge puncher either. Really think a move up to 154 and refining his style to be a little more conservative would go a long way.
The way he folded against Ava was worrying.a move up and a change of trainer might be the best if he wants to move forward.
I still think the improved version of Benn would be lucky to win a round against him if they fought. Huge difference in levels.
If he fought Benn he'd beat him for sure. I wouldn't blame him if he retired and became a full-time model though.
I thought he would go on to be a special fighter, now I have massive reservations. The defeat was coming before the Avenasyan fight. Now moving up to 154 he would get destroyed by Beefy, does he have the heart to outfight Cheeseman? I would’ve fancied Fowler to do him before his move up, him vs Conway would be interesting.
Good boxer but unfortunately doesn't have the mentality for top level or the desire, another who had the matchroom hype team telling him he was the next pick thing because he hit a journeyman with 4 continuous left hooks.......... His fighting style above british level always meant he was going to be brutally beat once he moved up in class, you do have to defend yourself in boxing not have your hands by your waist!!!
I think it's a tad harsh. Where I agree with most of what you said I think he could be successful with that style but he needs one hell of an engine and and a bit of pop to sustain it for 12, he doesn't have either. I thought he was boxing beautifully against Avanseyien but he just can't keep a fighter honest and gasses.
Hope everything is ok with him but he really needs to rebuild himself. The draw against Ray Robinson really highlighted his flaws. Hopefully he can get his head down and make the necessary adjustments, as he has the raw talent to go far.
Needs to add a slight change to his style and learn how to punch harder. I'd drop him off for a year and drill him in the gym. Which could of all been started since the Ava defeat. Id bring him back with two more learning fights to get his eye in with the changes he'd made.He would be ready to start the learning fights now if hed of cracked straight on. Then back into championship fights
I thought the same. I was lucky enough to see one of his earlier performances from ringside on a Kal Yafai card. He looked special and for me, was the highlight of the card. Imo he has never eclipsed that performance. I think he should of been moved a little slower, with hindsight of course.
He's never looked special flashy yes but no substance,he went life and death with 140 British level winston campos.
His first 9 or 10 fights were all against very poor opponents, had an okay match up with Runowski then jumped straight up in levels to fight Robinson who’d just drawn with Kavaliauskas... Kavaliauskas had not long knocked out Avanesyan and fought Crawford soon after. I rate him but a lot of his movement is exaggerated and has no impact and wastes a lot of energy. Don’t think Booth is a good fit at all. Would like to see him with McGuigan.
