I had always thought of him as a potential WW Hagler. He'll never get there now, though. I just don't see him that motivated and he sat around too long. Bet he retires by late 2023.
Max Kellerman was asked about this match up the other day and basically stated that Hearns would win. I got Hearns by KO.
Hearns chief weakness at 147: chin and conditioning, would be improved by 24 hour rehydration time. You would get JMW Hearns fighting Crawford at WW.
Bad matchup for Crawford. He usually uses his length to advantage. In this case it is Hearns with the reach on his side. Hearns also definitely has the power advantage. Whether boxing or slugging I can't find a way for Crawford to win this fight.
The biggest issue Hearns would have is getting Crawford in the ring in the first place. If he managed that incredible feat the rest would be plain sailing. There are levels.
when you have to use the "Hearns" card to create a situation where a fighter loses, that means that this fighter is really ****ing great.
I agree with this. Hearns is hilariously overpowered at 147. A total nightmare. I mean I don't think TC is "really ****ing great", but he's very good. But I agree that when people are tired of hearing of someone at welter they make this match up.
