This is a bizarre post. You really hate a division because you personally don't like the top fighters despite their talents? What's not to like about Ennis, Crawford and Spence? All are top notch skillful boxer-punchers and respectful outside the ring. I mean of all of the divisions, you chose welter weight? The division flooded with the most talent. We should be excited. You seem to be in your feelings.. about something.
Crawford, Spence, Ugas, D. Garcia, Ennis, V. Ortiz. There isn't another division that is as deep as the talent here.
154 & 168 for me. Mainly because they feel like transitory divisions only, on one's way to MW or LHW at best, or as a hiding hub from other fighters in MW/LHW. As such, it never feels like divisions in which you'll have an even clash of two highly talented boxers. It feels more like a division ppl would go to to try and grab a belt, and then leverage it for other weight divisions. I don t follow boxing under 135 (for lack of time and sources to watch from; these guys have all my respect, no matter there weight) so I can't talk about these
This is a bizarre post. ^ You really think you can designate yourself the arbiter of what others are or aren't permitted to like? Pretty sure I'm free to like or dislike whatever I damn please, without even needing to give a reason (although in this case my reasons were broken down in my OP) just as you're free to STFU. The mere presence of talent (if we are to even accept your premise that welter has the highest concentration of p4p talent of all the divisions, which is hardly an undisputed matter) doesn't have to mean that's where your allegiance must lie. Or are you the kind of person that cheers on Lebron James, Tom Brady, or whoever their equivalent is from any sport, just because they are the most talented, regardless of whether you enjoy their style of play, or respect their personality off the court/field (or in combat sports, outside the ring/cage, whatever) and just blindly ride any bandwagon of whoever talking heads on ESPN tell you is the best in their game on any given day? Because that's what you sound like.
Strawweight. always has been extremely weak, with almost zero depth. If an European guy would be able to make the weight, he can lose his debut fight by KO1, and then still be the #1 ranked sw in Europe. The current #4 US strawweight is 0-3(3) all inside 2 rounds.
Heavy. Fury- top guy at the weight, but to inactive/ fought one guy for the last two years. Usyk- impressive win vs AJ. AJ- undoubtedly top 3, but seems to be a level below the other two. Joyce- probably my fav heavy, still needs to prove himself at the elite level. Whyte, usually somewhat out of shape and a bit unorthodox, absolutely washed by an old Povetkin. Aside from these guys... I don't see anything that excites me... It's to easy to just be a fatman with huge punching power. I much prefer 160-130
It seems that many of you aren't fans of the sport just cheerleaders for the fighters that you like. I guess that is your right. I appreciate talent no matter the package or personality outside the ring because I love boxing. And just because I like one fighter doesn't mean I hate the other. I'm a big Wilder fan but was in awe of the Ali like performance that Fury put on when beating him. Can't think of one fighter that I truly dislike. Their fans? Hell yeah but not a fighter unless he's truly a despicable person.
