Was the last TRUE super fight GGG v Canelo? Are there any true super fights out there right now? Spence v Crawford? Usyk v Fury? Thoughts?
Depends on the level of love you have for the sport. The fights you mentioned are big fights. For me Taylor/ Crawford is a good one. Bivol/Beterbiev/Canelo. Fury/AJ. All these fight I would be super hyped for.
Mayweather vs pacquiao is the last one, theres no current fighters that could be considered a superfight in the usa which means most of america would take notice.
The Fury-Wilder fight 3 drew alot of interest. I wouldn't call it a superfight though. For myself I considered Usyk-AJ a superfight. Going forward Crawford-Spence, Canelo-Betrbiev, Fury-AJ/Usyk.
Spence vs Crawford Fury vs Usyk/AJ Inouie vs Doniare 2 If GGG vs Charlo happens for Undisputed only Teofimo vs the bum killer Tank If Bud becomes undisputed at WW then move up and face an Undisputed Jermell Charlo. I feel like all the above can be considered a super fight. Notice the restrictions if only Andrade and Charlo fight and Charlo wins and GGG beats Murata that particular fight only for undisputed would be huge. Same for if Bud beats Spence and gets the WBA and Charlo beat Castano and his mandatory then Bud vs Jermell Charlo could also be huge.
I would agree with this. When I think of a super fight, I think about fights that had crossover appeal to people that are not typical boxing fans. With that said, we have some tremendous fighters right now. They just haven't captured the attention of the general public the way a Tyson, Mayweather, Ray Leonard did. Hell, Tyson vs Jones did 1.6 mil in pay per view buys while Crawford vs Porter did just 150k. Crazy that those two old farts pulled those kind of numbers compared to two of the best of this generation.
Moneywise? Mayweather vs McGregor 4.3 million PPVs. I don't see anyone doing those numbers soon or maybe even again depending on how the PPV model goes.
Exactly. I'm talking about fights where the secretary at work, the old guy at church, and my parents are all talking about it. None of those people know or care about Crawford, Usyk, or Spence.
Mayweather McGregor had insane interest in the US, almost unbelievable. I don't know of any super fight on the horizon that would capture that type of feeling. Maybe Fury vs Joshua would be the closest
wilder vs fury was big. joshua vs usyk obviously was but i just can't warm to joshua for some reason, i just don't think much of him. canelo vs ggg were pretty mega too.
