Do the judges official scorecard reflect how the fight between Crawford and Porter was going before the stoppage?
I think his work was cleaner. Shawn Porter was his predictable self and i think most people knew Crawford had the better chance of winning. Shawn Porter fought well but he doesn't seem to have a plan b. He should have left his father and found a better trainer years ago and i think he'd have been moulded into a better fighter. I think he probably would have beaten Thurman cleanly. Thurman beat him because he threw cleaner punches. Errol Spence beat him because his work was cleaner and more accurate. Kell Brook, Terence Crawford, Errol Spence, Keith Thurman, Manny Pacquiao of the Thurman fight are simply smarter, better boxers than Shawn Porter. He can hold his own with any of them and make it competitive but i think he lacks the ring smarts to truly push himself to the higher tier. A lot of Porters punches were not landing clean and Crawford was taking them on the gloves. His relentlessness made it seem he was landing more shots than he actually was. It's like the illusion of when Porter fought Brook and some people thought Porter won but he was missing wildly whilst Kell was landing clean jabs at will. His pressure and relentlessness gives the illusion that he's doing better than he actually is. I think the scorecard was fair. It was a competitive fight but i think Crawford's style made it less exciting than it could of but he boxed and moved. He didn't need to get into brawls.
Yes. I had it 5-4 for Crawford (while cheering for Shawn). It was pretty even for a few rounds , even had Shawn up at one point, but Crawford had turned the corner. If he had not been pulled, I think he would have been stopped a short time later.
Porter's dumb ass gets knocked down in the late rounds and they didn't adjust to that. Spence (11) Broner (12)
I had it 5-4 Porter. So Crawford by a point isn't crazy for me. No one was dominating or winning too clearly.
Crawford is hated here. I had it for Porter but there were people giving every round to him basically lol.
I think they relied on out working the opponent too much. Similar to a guy falling in love with his power, without a plan b, which you mention. Nobody will out work Porter, but he can be out smarted and out classed, which the top guys were able to do.
No Crawford was in clear control from the beginning to the end of this fight. What was porter doing to score and win rounds? There you go.
Terrible scorecards. Especially that 87-84 from Max DeLuca. But what do you expect from a crook like DeLuca? Here some of MAX DELUCA's "beautiful" scorecards recently: Mayer vs. Hamadouche 99-91 Alvarez vs. Saunders 78-74 Harrison vs. Perrella 116-112 Mielnicki Jr vs. Martin 76-76 Greer vs. Rodriguez 76-76 Max DeLuca knows who is supposed to win and he definitely knows how to score fights for the A-side. Pathetic and corrupt piece of **** he is.
Anybody that thinks shawn woulda heard the bell in the end of 10 need to watch shawns health meters go down in 8 & 9. Guy had nothing left and couldnt get away. If you cant admit to that youre a bias stubborn mf who dksab.
As you say, some of the RBR scores were waaaaaaaaaay off...both with Crawford-Porter and a couple of weeks earlier, with Canelo-Plant. And not just the usual suspect scorers, but also with usually knowledgeable posters who generally score more realistically.
I had Crawford with a lead, I think it was 6-3 after 9. Could have seen 5-4 as well. The thing about it was that Crawford was landing sharp, fast, and flush counters that were often not shown well by the camera angle. You could hear them, you could see them if you were looking for it, and the effects became evident in the last 3 rounds, but it wasn't as visible as the wide, looping shots that Porter was throwing. I wish ESPN would have noticed that on Bud's highlight reel often you could barely see him throwing the punch that would KO opponents. Maybe think "hey, this fight is going to be all about the counter game because he's facing a guy who charges like the Light Brigade, let's get a camera at an upward angle to capture it."
