Margarito Is Underestimated!!

I think you should show more respect for Margarito.

The man has never had a big pay day in his life, and now that he has got one he is overrated?

Any inpartial viewer will tell you that Margarito has a legitimate chance of upsetting Miguel Cotto.

I'd ask you not to say Margarito is overrated again because until Cotto was mentioned, nobody at ESB even knew the man existed.

 

regardless of records this fight is about as 50/50 as it gets,cant wait for this.

 

I see Margarito in the same way as Soto. Good but a league below the real elites in the division.

 

I've only been back for 3 and a half years following the sweet science (after a 5 year drought) and i gotta say margarito is old school in every way. Yes, Cotto is a true boxer puncher but his punches and his boxing will be neutralized by the "raging bull" Margarito. Margarito will not be denied and his day of recognition is 6 days away. I also have to give props to Mosley and Mayweather's management teams. They ducked margarito for a great reason.
They both would have suffered physical injuries. I'm extra glad that Mosley didn't fight him because Mosley is a true champion and he would have went out on his sword. Which means the Mosley family would never see the Sugar Shane they once knew and loved.
I'm not aware how bad the Tornadoes are in Tijuana but i do know a little about raging bulls and that's why his knew nick name is the "raging bull" from Tijuana. And Mr. Cotto is no high level Matador so expect this fight to be over byround 9.

 

Wow, talk about being a hater. Probably will still think that if Margarito knocks out Cotto.

 

I think considering he was extremely competitive with Paul Williams suggests that he is one of the real elites.

Humberto Soto lost convincingly to the best fighter he's ever fought, Juan Guzman.

Even though you would struggle to make a case for Margarito beating Williams, it was still an extremely competitive fight.

 

It's not a case of lacking respect, but the fact is the guy has been built up so much just because he beat Cintron, probably one of the weakest champions around at the time. It was only a matter of time before somebody got to him and that just happened to be Margarito, and now he's getting huge credit for it when Cintron would of lost to most top 10 welters.

 

Will you still think that if Margarito knocks out Cotto???

 

Ye well Margarito comes in 10 pounds over the welterweight limit. And all of his opponents at welter other than Williams have been smaller than him. Cintron started boxing at 19. he is still green.:hi:

If you want to go down that road, let's review Miguel Cotto's recent competition.

His greatest win of his career by his own admission was an over the hill Mosley.

Mosley had lost a lot of fights. Twice to Winky Wright, and twice to Forrest. I will say they were bigger men, but I don't recall Mosley ever solidifying himself as an all-time great welterweight. Shane Mosley is a great fighter. He was an exceptional one at lightweight. Worth noting a lot of Boxing Analysts thought it was a draw. I had Cotto winning.

Zab Judah has always been an impressive 5 round fighter. Although Cotto outboxed him during the entire course of their fight, he was being wobbled by every single right hand Judah landed. I don't know about you, but I feel Margarito has comparable punching power at welterweight. In any event, Zab Judah, like Shane Mosley, has also lost a lot of fights. Carlos Baldomir to name only one, and that almost discredits Zab as a welterweight contender altogether.

Miguel Cotto seems to get a lot of credit for his destruction of Carlos Quitana. I'm certainly not going to discredit the win, but Antonio Margarito was competitive with a man who disposed of Quintana much quicker than Cotto was able to. This probably doesn't mean anything, but it certainly makes Antonio's loss to Williams a lot less surprising.

Despite bringing both fighters resumes into the equation, I personally don't think they will give any indication to the outcome of this fight.

Antonio Margarito is not an overrated fighter, he is an overlooked one. Some choice people at ESB believe he has a chance to beat Cotto, not because he is on the same level in boxing terms, but he has the tools to upset Miguel, who has looked vunerable throughout his short career.

I'll give you my opinion.

Miguel Cotto is the superior boxer and probably the more educated, but he will facing a determined, hungry, hardworking, heavy-punching former title holder in Margarito. I never for one second believed Antonio to have one punch knockout power, but I don't neccesarily believe Corley to have possess it either.

Margarito has a legitimate chance in the sport of Boxing to defeat a skilled opponent like Cotto.

 

No, I'm just saying if it does happen. Margarito hits hard and Cotto doesn't have a great chin like Margarito.

 

You think Baldimor was not one of the weakest Champions of all time? IMO Cintron beats the **** out of Baldimor.
I think Tony is highley under rated here on these forums Saturday that will begin to change, and if Floyd does come back, if he does I doubt he wants anything to do with Tony, but lets say they fight, Tune in saturday to see what Floyd will have to deal with in a fight with Margarito.

 

The countdown show was litterered with excusses for Cotto.
(If he was to lose this fight!)

That said, I expect nothing to get in the way of a great fight.
I support Margarito, always have always will.
