Thank you Pulev. I knew he couldn't lose. He's a decent enough fighter. I thought there's no way he'd lose to Mir.
It's not coping mechanics look at all the records. Of course Perry would do well against Micheal Seals. He's not any good. I think you're a biased mma fanboy. All your posts are just pro mma not giving any positives to boxing. It's a bit weird. Maybe you should go back to sherdog. Mir looked small and weak. He got knocked out easily by Pulev and his clinch game didn't help him at all. Do you even like boxing? Just curious.
Seals sucks bad also. It's not really a surprise Perry won tbh. When you fight journeymen with losing records all your career it's not a test. It's like mma beating boxing here is them getting a children's award. It's just journeymen/past it guys trying to make a quick buck. You put actual good boxers in then you'd see a different story.
"look at the records" yeah Seals is a 25-3 professional boxer and considered a puncher, Perry is a 14-8 MMA fighter, and they had essentially a boxing match. And you're acting like Perry was supposed to win, when in reality betting odds were massively against the MMA fighters. Pulev was ranked in the top 10 and fighting AJ a year ago, Mir is a badly washed up out of shape BJJ specialist who hasnt been in the UFC for 6 years and has lost 4 of his last 5 MMA fights, 3 by KO. But THATS the only fight that counts eh? put Ngannou or Gane in there and after tonight I actually think Pulev loses. You're getting emotional and defensive because boxing looked bad tonight. MMA fighters giving up 75% of their weapons and still winning lol.
You got emotional because you replied ''coping mechanics'' lol. I didn't even watch much of the card. I watched some of the Seal fight where he knocked down Mike Perry and watched the Pulev fight on youtube. Who cares about Triad Combat bro. Just old past it fighters/journeymen trying to get some cash. Did you get butthurt or something because Pulev knocked Mir out? Perry has journeyman level hands and he fought a journeyman boxer basically. He got knocked down threw the kitchen sink at him and didn't hurt Seals. He won on points in a stupid gimmick fight with a pointless triangular ring.
Well when theres 7 fights on the card and you discount 6 of them to focus on the one where the boxer looked good, it does come across like mental gymnastics. And yes, of course i'm a boxing fan as well, but I was rooting for the MMA guys here for two reasons, 1) this was basically boxing, the rules were not a "middle ground" at all 2) there are a lot of anti-MMA boxing fans out there who have a very obnoxious elitist dismissive attitude towards MMA ie "toughman contest" "no chins" "cant punch" "rolling on the floor" etc etc and live in a fantasy land where they believe MMA fighters couldnt possibly be in boxing range with a boxer for more than a few seconds without being KO'd.
You seem like you feel the need to defend mma a lot. I think mma guys can hold their own in boxing within levels. I think a lot of boxers who have padded records aren't as good as they think. With the right training and matchmaking they can. Silva beat the lazy potsmoker Chavez Jr relatively easily. I've heard mma fans constantly say ''boxing is dead'' but boxing fans rarely ever talked about UFC up until McGregor came along then you'd see more threads being made. I heard boxing fans say mma guys have no chins etc but some boxing fans think if someone gets knocked out twice you instantly have a glass chin even if it was against a big puncher.
So...6 of 7 fights go to the MMA guys, including one journeyman vs journeyman fight. Most important one goes to Pulev in a relative mismatch, although Pulev isn't exactly on top of boxing right now, either. Good first test. Not enough to tell for sure one way or another yet, probably. I'll have to keep an eye on this sport going forward.
Firstly no one really care about this sideshow BS. Secondly the boxers should have won. Even if they were washed up journeymen, they were fighting random crappy mma fighters. Seals losing to that barroom brawler is a joke. Seals was ranked #70 by boxrec in his division going into this fight. Even at 39 yo, with his KO ratio, he should have handled this guy in a couple rounds.
