Premature coronation: might it be that *none* of the lightweight "four kings" end up HOF worthy?

Safe to say if we're viewing this as like those arcade skeeball horse races, then López was out in front heading into the weekend and has just come to a full halt and given his peers a several rolls' lead.

Canastota may still not be impossible for any, but just became a whole lot more difficult for him in particular unless he rebounds smartly.

 

Even if they do, are they really up to a mantle shorn by Hags/SRL/Hitman/Piedra? Under, like, any present imaginable circumstances?

 

Which of the four do you see having success at 140? Barring a move up to welter for TTT, in my view the whole gang is ****ed.

 

He's the only remaining would-be king that we've seen hurt, isn't he? I might have tuned out Haney or Davis getting stunned a time or two as white-noise static in my overloaded internal encyclopedia of boxing memories.

But for the sake of argument, if we've never seen hints that either of their chins are crackable by aught short of a monster, then he very well could be next to follow López into a stumble the first time he faces a huge puncher, or even just another boxer as good as Luke Campbell with a tad more pop.

I think Davis is likeliest to find LW a struggle to make in the near future - let's see whether he can even do it next week - and there are certainly better and more dangerous sharks in the waters of light welter than Barrios. I wouldn't be shocked to see him get his comeuppance when he starts finally taking on guys his own size.

Haney might be safest for now due to his style being more defensive than García's and his ability to comfortably make 135 seeming more consistent than Davis' (although many consider Haney an oversized lightweight and perhaps a weight bully himself, so a day may come when it ceases to be so easy).

 

Oh, and they're not *all 5'8", but this is hilarious and I've been waiting for an excuse to use it somewhere...
