Usyk fans are beyond delusional. Get a grip. Usyk beats a bodybuilder who was KO'd by a Blob and now they thinking he's something special.
As a Klitschko fan, and now Usyk fan i would say that Lewis > ALL. While i'm a huge fan of the Ukrainian boxing, and they produce magicians i always try to be fair in my assumption, and Lennox Lewis for me is the Goat in H2H. Vitali is close second. As far for Ali vs Usyk i would also favor Usyk. Just try to compare guys from 60-70s with a current athlete in pretty much any sport and current one will just annihilate them. Do you see anyone stand a chance against Nadal, Federer, Djokovic ? They would be annihilated, simple as that. Different sport. Same for football, same for basketball, same for pretty much every sport out there. P.P. Usyk at CW weight probably more than Ali, and why people compare prime Ali, vs current Usyk, which is not his prime version? Compare 34 years Ali vs 34 year Usyk then maybe? Current Usyk would beat Ali at 34. If we took prime Ali vs Listen 2 for example, he weighted at 206 pounds . Usyk probably weight more on fight night in his WSB days .... Their height and reach is the same.
You are entitled to your opinion, you are young but peak Muhammad Ali of 1964-1967 beats Usyk on points, Ali had amazing reflexes, stamina, speed and footwork, look at the Ernie Terrell bout from Feb 1967, Usyk has to prove himself, Ali has. Ali could move for 15 rounds, do not confuse this version of Ali with the 1970's edition.
You are correct that athletes from the 60's are vastly inferior to modern athletes in all sports. Obviously people who share nationality or ethnic ties with these past fighters don't like it but it's very probable that 2nd raters today would be dominant champions two generations ago. A guy like Ali who fought carthorses in a comparatively primitive and geographically protected era would have zero chance against an elite modern athlete master boxer southpaw like Usyk.
Honestly, I could see Usky beating everyone Ali did. When it comes to the match up, styles make fights. I think Usyk's Jab and inside fighting would be a bit too much but ali has the athleticism, defense, and footwork. This a legit 50/50 fight.
You put the current Qb's in the NFL back to when they weren't protected by rules they have the privilege's of now. Most will be on injured reserve by mid-season. Players destroyed their bodies back then and kept playing. You won't see someone break his shoulder, tie it up and get back on the field. Older days in many sports were far more violent. Skills will only get you so far when you are prepared to play through that kind of beating. Tennis is all baseline, all courts are higher bounce and reduces the pace, although players are slightly faster. Courts have been modified to allow for long rallies for the dumb masses entertainment. Nadal's reliance on always getting in position to use his forehand top spins won't work on most olden day courts. In the late 90's it was only Michael Chang the energizer that could pull it off, and he pulled off shots in awkward positions, he didn't always have the time to get into perfect position every single play. The play styles were far more varied because the courts had a huge difference. Stefan Edberg, Sampras, Agassi, Becker, Chang all completely unique playstyles, and were more dominant in different circuits. Only Agassi could take Goran Ivanisevic and Samprass on fast courts. Now same **** works on all circuits. There is a reason why top tennis players lose on smaller circuits on a regular basis, and dominate in major circuits. Because the dumb masses want to see long rallies, the major tourneys cater to them for money by making conditions fit for that playstyle. Extremely fast courts and low bounce makes that style useless. It is all about money, athletes have improved, but many changes has been made to skew numbers to maximize profits. Everything has been dumbed down for the masses, same as the dumb chumps right now that are too stupid to realize it is impossible to report a death on a daily basis as doing an autopsy in that timeframe is impossible.
Ali is better than Joshua in every department besides power thats for sure. Joshua boxed a mid range fight instead of trying to keep it long like i was thinking he'd do so he doesn't even know how to use his size and reach nor does he have the gas tank to walk Usyk down and be successful.
Ali is proven. There are still question marks around Usyk for me. Like how will he react when he gets dropped by some very hard punches.
Wow man that's saying a lot, time will tell especially since bodybuilder wants him to fight fury next for step aside money. That's right he's going straight for the cream of the crop. If he beats fury that is exactly 50% of his career tried and tested and true. Only big fights after that ie clean out the rest of the division.
Perhaps, but I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he's a young guy who needs to learn more about the past. LOL Either way, not worth debating.
I would not outright pick anyone over Ali...too much respect. But let's not deify the guy either. Yes, he beat more great fighters than any other heavy, which is why he is the Greatest, but neither does Usyk have anything on his record like the Cooper or Norton fights. Nor do we have much data on how All would handle southpaw. He only fought Mildenbereger and looked lackluster early. At the end of time, Ali will still be the Greatest, but Usyk will be in that very Uber-elite with him.
And Ali was knocked on his ass by a fringe contender and was only saved by a series of illegal actions: Escorted back to his corner- illegal Given smelling salts- illegal Glove split to guy him extra time- illegal Don't do this. We don't increase one fighter by diminishing another. You would be much better off by saying that it would be a great fight that you think All would win.
