I want to see this. I am leaning 60/40 towards Wilder. If Ruiz wins that would be a good angle in the storyline to make Joshua vs Ruiz III. If Wilder wins that keeps him right up there with the big names. Good fight for America and Boxing.
It's the logical next fight for Wilder. 1) Fight will make money, Ruiz has a Hispanic following 2) Former heavyweight champ, good name for Wilder's resume 3) Ruiz is easy to hit, good chin but will not last against Wilder's power But I think Wilder's handlers may put him in with someone weaker like Alexander Flores.
Good intriging fight. Wilder with power no boxing skills coming off two batterings at the hands of Fury. Ruiz great boxing skills but looked like crap in last fight. 50-50 odds
Normally I would have said Wilder by KO but the way he looked in his last fight with that far away look and mouth hanging open at times I don’t think he should be fighting anymore. To be honest Malik is not a good trainer and he did not look good in his last fight, the extra muscle and weight hurt him and aside from the jabs to the body he looked lost the entire fight. I wish Wilder well but I think he should call it a career.
The Ruiz from AJ#1 puts Wilder on the backfoot and keeps him there, and Deontay can't fight on the back foot at all. Ruiz now is somewhat of an unknown quantity, as is Wilder after his losses to Fury and the damage he's taken (not least to his confidence, which I suspect is more important to Wilder than it would be to most other boxers). Could go either way really, depends what each man has left to give. But it won't happen, Wilder won't take anything near a 50/50 fight unless he's had his pride hurt or has an L to avenge (see Fury #2, Fury #3).
if Ruiz would not screw up. i.e. have a proper camp and fight to his ability. he would smash Wilder. Possibly retire him as he is mentally fragile. would be posting nonsense for the rest of his life about the conspiracy that ended his career. Illuminati programmed and instilled some ancient hoodoo voodoo power into the marshmellow michelin man that allowed him to knock him into bizarro world. come to think of it...bring it on.
Wilder does ok early Ruiz takes over mid fight Touch of death strikes and Ruiz struggles through the round Ruiz finishes strong Close decision to either. Wilder should fight Jarrel Miller next.
Miller is right up Wilder's street... He's got some name recognition (mostly due to his big mouth and having spectacularly blown his career-high payday by getting caught with the PEDs), he's got a very limited resume (gatekeeper at best) coupled to a reputation that suggests he IS something more than that despite not having proven it. Oh and of course, Millers best performances were almost certainly PED'ed to the gills - get him clean and he'll be a shadow of what little he ever was (a cherrypick/gimme for AJ's US debut) which suits the cherrypicker in chief right down to the ground.
I'd take a tune up vs an ESB bum poster before getting in there with Ruiz. Wilder's fragile mentality needs caressing.
No he don't, that weight loss drained him big time and now he's even more pillowfisted than ever and has a wafer chin. He needs to install an all you can eat buffet in his house and just order everything from Dominos Pizza to get up to 268 pounds. Thats the weight he trashed Joshua at and he should be looking to get back into optimal form.
Wilder early KO or Ruiz mid-late KO seems the logical likely outcomes. I would be surprised if it went the difference. Definitely a great matchup, nothing to hate here.
