Does Usyk have a say in this or is he just a pawn in their game? If I was him I'd want Joshua as long as the money was right. He knows he can beat Joshua.
If Joshua is offered a shot at the winner though, that's the main thing. He gets money and the fight he wants for the undisputed. Lets face it, if he steps aside, if Fury wins, which I believe he will, then Fury WILL fight Joshua. It's too big of a fight not to happen, regardless of belts involved.
If, and that's the point I was making thats a big 'if'. Sure 'if' Fury wins, 'if' Fury doesn't go on another meltdown after beating Usyk, 'if' Joshua doesn't lose to somebody on the way and lose his drawing power, which I think he may have already. If there isnt another covid lockdown. If,if, if lol At this point in time Joshua has the ball in his hands. In his next fight he goes for the belts. A chance to avenge his loss. He won't let that go for a potential future match up, possibly 2 years down the line. Joshua will fight Usyk next.
They wouldn't pay off Wilder to step aside so they could make the biggest money fight with AJ Why would they pay off AJ? to make a lesser money fight with Usyk... lol For AJ to step aside is desperation, he won't be getting what he needs which would be in well excess of £15m.
I'm of the opinion that they didn't pay off Wilder because Fury started to get pissed off with him and just decided to give him a good hiding and pay him **** all. Which is exactly what happened.
With AJ i wonder how much it will come down to what his new trainer is advising. If Shields(?) likes what he is seeing from AJ then maybe he will be ok with the Usyk rematch, but I'dexpect a new trainer to want to get soem time with him, a tune up and see the new gameplan executed and then tweaked. Of course, it's not like there really is anyone out there to give a good 'dry run' for another go at Usyk, but a dominant KO from an aggressive AJ might build confidence and bolster the fragile metal side a bit.
While money is important this is the ultimate fight for both fighters and one which the winner will likely retire as a high tier atg. Id say this plays on their minds, they arent getting younger, why not do it now. They can always come back and batter aj for a few pound anytime
The Bodybuilder will step aside. Pretty sure about that. He knows Usyk is going to manhandle him again in the rematch and might even stop him this time so he's getting some good money for stepping aside and then facing the winner for all the belts - a last hurra for him before he retires and rides into the sunset with another LOSS and more important: Another payday. Two paydays instead of one. At this point Joshua isn't a boxer anymore. He's a businessman. And the smartest decision for "his" business is stepping aside and taking some good money + cashing out in the final fight against the winner of Usyk/Fury. Nobody wants to see Usyk beating the crap out of the Bodybuilder again. We want to see Fury vs. Usyk. The two best and greatest HWs of this era fighting each other. LETS GO!
Win/win. We get a undisputed fight, Joshua gets out of the rematch with Usyk, pride intact, and hopes Fury does what he failed to do and beat a slick southpaw, setting up a AJ vs Fury fight for all the belts. I think Joshua is more confident of beating Fury than Usyk and would rather risk a third and damning defeat for all the belts, than lose back-to-back against the same fighter just to get back the belts he lost earlier this year. Gonna take a large slice of cash to make this happen though...
I like Aj, but regardless of the indignity of a fighter of his stature (or late stature) being in a conversation about step-aside money, the fight I want to see is Fury -Usyk . In Rummy's recent poll, I put Fury as my favourite active boxer, but I was very impressed with how Usyk silenced the naysayers ( "...he's a blown-up cruiser...he struggles with Chisora...wait till he faces one of the super-heavy weights...etc.). Usyk is the most skillful HW currently boxing and he holds the best win of any current HW. Fury has thrice slain the WBC Bogeyman and established himself as number one in the division. Fury and Usyk are the best in the division and between them, they hold all the belts. I want to see them fight for all the marbles.
