I fibnd this bout interesting as Smith was only a handful of fighters to last the distance with a prime Quartey. They fought at a time when Quartey was on the way up and knocking out everyone he fought.Anybody ever seen it?

I haven't seen it, but if it was anything like the Smith-Chavez fight, I wouldn't consider it that much of an achievement. Lonnie ran for his life in that one.

Quartey was not on my radar when this fight took place. I didn't know who he was before he defeated Espana, and I only read about that fight.

Lonnie Smith went the distance with Chavez, so I'm not completely surprised he made it to the final bell against Quartey.

As far as running went, Smith made Camacho look like a Samoan shot putter, which was a shame because he was not without ability, and being a DKP fighter in the era, he had serious connections.
