Just carrying on from discussing in the other thread, people seem to have a lot of good ideas on what can be done to improve FNR4, so it would be good to here some suggestions.

Sorry if this is in the wrong area, not sure whether to put it in the Lounge or not, so feel free to move it of course.

Anyway, I'll get the ball rolling.

    - Better footwork.
    - Glancing punches (already confirmed).
    - More weight classes.
    - More fighters (specifically better quality modern day fighters).
    - More realistic falls when knocked down.
    - Better music (able to implement own music into game).
    - Better ring entrances.
    - More sly illegal blows.
    - Get rid off the stupid one button hayemakers.
    - Get rid off the stupid parry where you get stunned.
    - Harder difficulty.

    CAREER MODE

    - Longer amateur career.
    - Proper amateur scoring.
    - More world titles.
    - Ability to move up and down in weights.
    - Ranking system.
    - Better training/adjust it to make certain weight.
    - Real life trainers.
    - Promoters.

    ADDED: - Official belt.
    - One punch knockouts.
    - More powerful straight shots.
    - National, continential and Olympic titles in the amateurs.
    - Prestige/reputation levels based on previous amateur experience.
    - More realistic physique.
    - Ability to limit a fighters potential.
    - Injuries and decreased stats after long punishing fights.
    - Indivudual styles for fighters.
    - Bigger fighters take less damage from smaller fighters, less/no chance of being knocked out.
    - More realistic stamina.
    - Popularity with the crowd depending on style.
    - Interviews for bigger fights.
    - Storylines and hype surrounding fighters.
    - Extensive ratings/attributes.
    - Attributes for each hand.
    - Different career mode eras.
    - Unifications and mandatories.
    - Different reactions to taking different fights.
    - Get rid of stupid tournaments like the Burger King Trophy.
    - Career highlights.
    - Techincal ability system to train individual punches etc.
    - Have to train defence instead of it being natural.
    - Variation on punches (they aren't thrown exactly the same way everytime).
    - Hall of Fame inductions with look back on career.
    - Press conferences and ability to call out fighters.
    - Tone down the power a fighter gains when moving up in weight.
    - Adapt training schedule and workload.
    - Bonuses/increased prestige for building up the hype surrounding a fight.
    - Fights at different altitudes.
    - Fights in different countries, different climates and temperatures.
    - More variation in atmosphere between early fights and bigger fights etc.
    - Better post fight celebrations, especially in big fights.
    - 11th hour injuries to fighters and therefore late replacements/called off fights.
    - Improve the rival system.
    - Controllable replys.
    - Allow child accounts to play online.
    - Improve on cuts and swelling (more).
    - More official ring attire for fighters.
    - Individual mannerisms.
    - Improve create-a-fighter mode (more attributes, more apppearance options, more save slots).
    - Fighters in one weight class only (for example, James Toney in MW, not MW, LHW and HW)

Yeah the straight have always been a little weak compared to the hooks. I wouldn't say so much one punch knockouts, though that would be good to add them in occassionally, but I'd like to see more flash knockdowns, where the other fighter isn't actually help and brutally finished off when stunned, but gets hit by perhaps a single shot and just caught off balance.

I'd edit my first post and add these all in btw to make it easier to read.

Yep, spot on with the amateur part. Bring in national, continental, international and olympic games for them. But do it in a way that you could actually have a fully fledged amateur career instead of ever turning pro. Also that you could turn pro at any stage without amateur experience or only a handful of fights. But, for example, if you spent 4 years as an amateur and won all the tournaments, then you get offered a far better pro deal. This gives you more money at the start to buy gear and hire better trainers (this is something that needs to be addressed aswel. No point in only having 1-2 trainers). You would also have a easier and quicker route to the top as you would be a "star" so to speak. However, if you had a less than stellar amateur career and didn't win any titles or qualify for the Olympics, then you go about it the hard way. Less points for your develpment as you train for each fight, because your trainer is crap. You don't earn much per fight as you're a nobody. You'd also have to fight more to get to the top. That's not an either/or scenario. Pending on your amateur career, there should be 4-5 different levels of how you enter the pro ranks.

I wish they weren't so drastic with fighters' shape changing as careers went on. I don't like how no matter how fat I make Butterbean, he's always ripped with an 8 pack after a few fights. Povetkin gets more ripped than Holyfield by the end of it.

Also, a good option for longevity would be the ability to "cap off" a fighters' peak potential at different levels instead of having them all be unbeatable monsters with maxed out stats after a couple dozen fights: for example, picking "journeyman" would only allow your fighter a certain level of growth so it'd make it that much harder and more rewardng if you won the title with him. Give the option for some fighters to be more naturally suited to be either Ams or Pros so that the other mode is more challenging with them- but if they're that good in the Ams, they can take a faster track in their pro career and be more choosy about their matchups.

The possibility of career affecting injuries after a long punishing fight would be another one. Do you keep your fighter in for pride and risk affecting him for future fights, or do you take the hit in reputation to get him out of there and save more punishment? Lowering a few stats for a period of time after the "war" would be fitting. As it stands, your fighter's always stronger the next fight no matter how brutal the previous one was.

There is plenty of stuff that needs overhauling in the game, but I'd just go to the basics straight off.

Fighters need to have their own, individual style. There are already several styles, but they don't change the way you actually fight. With frazier, you should rely on your left hook because it's stronger. With Ali you should rely on keeping distance with your feet and so no. You can come out and fight the same fight all the time. It shouldn't be like that.

And a featherweight should not be able to hurt Ali. Ever. It's just stupid. Scrap that part of the game entirely.

Stamina is a big thing too. Every fight is all out action. You don't notice the stamina untill maybe the 8th or 9th round fighting such a hard pace. You should tire in 30 seconds if you throw enough punches. Stamina is a non-factor in this game because fights never reach round 8 anyway.

And obviously more fighters and stuff like that.

Looking forward to this years game, though.

Don't really care about the ams in the game. Make the pro career good and I'm straight. Add more modern fighters and more legends that haven't been done to death already. Bring back the custom entrances and entourages. That livens it up a lot and makes a big difference.

Round 3 did a good job of making the normal punches more effective as well as toning down the haymaker so if they can keep on that route it would be fine. The right/left cross needs to be more powerful but that is about it.

Have fighters be able to be crowd favorites or hated. This should be based on how you fight in the game (style wise and exciting wise, how often you go the distance, etc..) This should affect how often you get big fights. Now when big fights happen they should have like interviews and stuff of that nature.

Someone should send an email to the developers with links to threads like these since the game is still in its early stages.

I'd do so if I had an address to send it to. I'll wait for a few more replies though.

Even so, their very unlikely to take much notice, I'm sure they get a lot of e-mails of people making suggestions.

Although it sounds like they are taking the feedback and trying to improve the game on peoples ideas so it's worth a try.

No more special punches likes judge jab, sinister cross, lethal uppercut,etc...Especialy judge jab.A jab is not supposed to be stronger than a hook.

I know EA Sports has a public forum with sub sections for each of their games. You could post the info in the fight night series section and see if you get a response. I don't know of any specific addresses or phone numbers, but I'm sure they are out there.

yeah, the lack of individual style is whack. i can chose anyone and win reguardless of my opponent in fight night 3. even if there are less characters, make each fighter vastly different from eachother.
