Last night, Gervonta Davis lost to a journeyman Isaac Cruz, even though Ellerbe's dodgy judges pulled him out.

He ran throughout much of the fight, and despite his craven style, Davis was on the receiving end of the better, more effective punches.

Davis has yet to fight a prime contender, and he's age 29. He's fought faded smaller guys like Santa Cruz, and journeymen like the former flyweight Hugo Ruiz.

You didn't see the fight. He didn't lose, you want to lie about what happened because you don't like him and have an agenda.

Yep, and not only that, calling Cruz a journeyman is laughable

I said right after the fight with rolly got canceled and Cruz was announced as the replacement that he was better than rolly and would be a harder fight for tank. People want to act like Cruz is trash and not better than his original opponent.

I like Cruz and last night he showed he is better than Davis.

But before last night when he beat an overhyped, overprotected boxer and was robbed, he was considered a journeyman. He has a loss to an 8-5 boxer and a draw with Jose Calyecac who is now 6-7.

Very astute point. Canelo has been pursuing a particular type of fighters in recent years. That is why this upcoming cw match is so intriguing. Everyone wants to see how he fares stepping outside of the bubble for a change

At best was a draw or 7-5 win for Davis

Definitely the biggest cherry picker at the weight. Davis looked to be in good shape last night, better than he’s looked in a while. He’s a 27 year old fighter who is still treated by his management team as a prospect. I hope to see him fight a better level of opposition but Cruz was a better opponent than I expected and probably better than Tank’s team expected. He was still a pretty basic fighter, small frame and nothing fancy but the guy was there to win. No doubt he was better than Tank’s team expected when they selected him as a late replacement. Tank will probably go back to fighting a couple bums a year, making noise on social media and somehow not fighting top guys at his weight. That’s cool with me, I hope this guy never has a chance to hold the real belts hostage because he will do everything possible to lock out all real challengers and fight lower level unknowns and small guys moving up. He’s happy with his pretend belts. Whatever it takes to protect that 0!

    Not protected by judges?

    Get real

Every ticket seller is protected to an extent

Perhaps by judges as in Golovkin I, but Canelo fought MUCH better opposition by age 27 than Gervonta "Failure to Launch" Davis.
