Canelo is more beloved. He has his fair share of hate, but most people who paid for Floyds fights were hoping he would get KOed. I was at alot of fight parties for Floyd fights, and felt really out of place sometimes, because i was like one of the only guys rooting for Floyd to win. FTR i went against Floyd in 4 fights, Judah, De La Hoya, Mosley and Canelo.
There wasnt anything likeable about Floyd for the casual fan. He was dumb as a rock, materialistic, uncharismatic and had a boring style. They tuned in the hope got ktfo. Only people that rooted for floyd were boxing purists, black peope and kids that bought into the money persona. Canelo while also hated on is easily more beloved.
It depends how you measure it. If your talking actual PPV numbers then it's clearly Floyd. If you are asking who is more popular then that's a more difficult question to answer. Floyd played the heel so that some people would pay to watch him lose so then the question remains. I'm not sure how popular Floyd actually was he had the two biggest PPV's but that's because he was fighting Pacman and Mcgregor both of which probably have a bigger following certainly worldwide.
Clearly Mayweather who eaned over $300 Million twice in a fight and $100 Million twice. Canelo is earning well but not like Mayweather numbers. Mayweather is the more popular cash cow they call Money for a reason. The figures don't lie.
You should have asked who is more FAMOUS Tbh regarding fame, it will take another generation to have a boxer more famous than Ali and Tyson.

His kids can't even pay their driver and Floyd is being sued by a dealership he bought cars from for non-payment. Come on, son.
As I stated above that's only because he was fighting Pacman and then McGregor both of which have a worldwide following not just from there own country. As for the money yes he's made a mint but do you honestly think that will last? If he is blowing wads on gambling and dropping $20 mill on a wristwatch that looks revolting and hypercars costing millions? Iron Mike made a mint and that was spunked up a wall in no time. If Floyd was in control he wouldn't have done the last couple of fights. Unless he takes control of his spending he will be broke in less than 10 years. I will bet you.
Hard to believe Tyson made tons of money and it went a lot further in his day and he basically blew threw it.
