For much of the fight I had a hard time deciding if AB was doing a good job cutting off the ring or if Browne just didn't care to move much.

 

Yeah, Browne was hurt mentally.

No. AB knew he had more power and followed a game plan pretty similar to that of Canelo in his last fights. He started slow, but after the cut, he stepped up the pace, probably a bit earlier than planned. Had he not been cut I think the stoppage would have come 1-2 rounds later.

But, they definitively should fight. Should Canelo win, his legacy is set, chicken energy booster or not. If Canelo loses, he found his level. (A Kovalev far past his prime who took the fight on short notice and probably wasn't in good physical shape, and possibly a win over a decent but not great cruiser champion - not the same IBHF litmus test).
