there does not appear to be a great height difference between a lightweight and a hw. bring in valuev!!! would be funny! licenced boxers like foreman, lewis, calzaghe, tua, klitschko, ray mancini, thomas hearns, and some randoms like tex cobb, chris eubank.....and would be amazing if they include naseem hamed!!!! make a peak version of toney when he was a mw - or both mw and hw versions lose the boxers who did not make it e.g. calvin brooks, lacey! if anyone's currently playing rnr3 online on 360 should send me a gamertag request to my i.d chief second. i'm learning the ropes and my pro record is 18-12
Problem is, the more this kind of thing gets discussed the more disappointing it is when you get to play the game! Thinking of all the stuff that could be in...getting that perfect boxing game in your head. Still, let's give it a whirl. How about being able to choose how much training you do? Pick how many weeks you put towards it. Obviously the more weeks, the better shape you'll be in so there would need to be something in place to balance that out...perhaps nagging injuries would mean you'd be able to train less, or media commitments. Do you help build up the hype for a fight and therefore get bonuses to your prestige and cash, or train up? You'd need to find that balance. Perhaps fights at altitude could happen, so you'd face notable penalties to performance if you didn't train in that environment for enough time. And definitely have a weight for your fighter, so you can tell when he's trained well or is carrying a few extra pounds! I would like to see a real increase in the hoopla as the fights get bigger. Apart from the larger venues and atmosphere, fighting the champ really doesn't feel big enough of a deal compared to fighting your first opponent. It's just window dressing, and should be skippable (perhaps a ON/OFF option in the menu as well) but would add to the feel a lot. Have press conferences for the bigger fights, weigh-ins with crowds and journos present, maybe even expand on that one-off 'fight at the weigh-in' cutscene from FNR3 and have one of several random events happen before the fight, good stuff or bad. And better post-fight celebrations! Especially if you win the belt. Leave 'em short for the one-off fights but for career mode give them the length they deserve for a player that has spent hours getting to that stage, not just five seconds of bounding about the ring then over to the punchstats.
Put in the random potential for an opponent to pick up an injury at the 11th hour and a late replacement is arranged. It's a hit in terms of cash and prestige but you've just got to deal with it as efficiently as possible and watch out for the upset! Having a more solid hierachy of opponents. There should be some upward mobility of course, but the top contenders and champs the game choses at the start of each career mode should always remain around the top until age or one too many bad losses see then slide down or retire. Better to build up recognisable and dangerous opponents like that rather than just random faces with different haircuts. The Rival system...either get rid of it or expand it to cover any figher you've fought more than once. As it is in FNR3, the poor sod can challenge you ten times and get brutally kayod every time, and still come back for more. That's not a rival, that's a whipping boy! And bring back the controllable replays. You decide on the camera positioning, zooming, playback and so on. And make them saveable, so you can have a little bank of your favourite career moments
Be able to determine what punches our fighter will do the most and least damage. So you'd be able to specialize...have a killer jab and straight right...or killer uppercuts to the body, etc.
hopfully the new game will alow people with child accounts to be able to play online as my little brother loves this game but cannot play me on xbox live , EA's policy at the moment does not permit this if any one wants to fight me on fnr 3 my gamertag is dwpainz (xbox360) im a rugged journeyman with a 159 wins 129 losses record come get some lol
A Lot of my losses where on points , i dont claim to be **** hot but i come to fight and would give you fits
just off the top of my head in fighting flash knockdowns one punch ko's improvement on cuts&bleeding more official ring attire individual mannerisms(so NOT EVERYONE taunts after scoring a kd) more clearly defined fighting styles improved career mode(so you pick ur promoter etc...) each fighter appears in ONE weight class only(hopefully meanin more fighters) feature real titles(wbc, wba, ibf, wbo, ring)so u can unify divisions b4 movin up better create a fighter mode(more options, attire, hairstyles etc...)
Thanks for all the response. Just added them all in the edit again, will look for a few more replies and then try and get this to EA somehow lol.
Well I posted it up in the suggestions area for the game on the official EA Sports forums, not really sure there's much more I can do but I hope for a positive reaction there and hopefully the games creaters will take notice.
After Round 3 came out, withing a couple of months, EA ran a survey on the series which you could fill in, it was a good 10 + pages long and you could get quite detailed. I pretty much put 90% of whats in the first post in my reply. The Prizefighter Career mode structure is pretty decent, too bad it's a bit of a button masher, I still had fun tho - But I still play Evander Holyfields boxing on Mega Drive (Genesis) every now and again. Oh and Greatest Heavyweights, which is basically the same only with more famous HW's. Ironically the Floyd Patterson in the Genesis/Mega Drive version was far more accurate than the one in Fight Night Round 3...
I could imagine the one-punch KOs driving some people utterly insane though, especially if not implemented right... Imagine beating the crud out of Chris Byrd for 6 rounds, then missing a jab and he destroys you with one shot. You'd be slightly peeved. You'd have to save something like that for the real big big punchers, like guys with 90% or better in their power stat. Other fighters landing the same shot in that extreme circumstance would do big damage but not necessarily a straight knockout. Oh, thought of another one. Facial damage, they need to extend this. Not to get too grisly about it but if you've been pounding on a guy's bloody eye for round after round then having it look a bit bruised and a trickle of blood doesn't quite cut it. If they're going to go that route as they have in the past, they need to go the whole hog...and therefore you could get more convincing fight-stopping injuries from that rather than "his nose is bleeding a bit".
You get one punch knockdowns in the game, which is good enough. Once punch KO's would be annoying as hell. It'd be a good feature if done right, but I don't know how it could be effectively used.
