Great fight! Rooting for Mckinson to cause a upset but I think Ortiz Jr is just too good.

Hope McKinson does it. Reality, is I think he needs a miracle. Think he will get badly outclassed and stopped. Interesting how Hearn treats his WW prospects. Kelly gave Avanesyon early and he got beat. Would not put Benn in with him as not ready still, though he is further up the ladder now than Kelly was when he fough Ava. McKinson getting fed to the wolfs, but would never consider this for Benn, not now or anytime imo.

    Jesus fair play to Mckinson

I rate him, tidy and tricky boxer and fair play to him for taking this on. Unfortunately see it as a step or two to far but good luck to him.

Another Britsh welter daring to put their 0 on the line in a tricky fight, hats off to McKinson, I hope he's being paid well for this as he's showing a set of balls taking this fight when he could easily have a few safer ones before taking on a challenge of this size.

McKinson is decent but he doesnt have anything near the power to keep Ortiz honest. No doubt he will be used as a yard stick for Benn at the back end of 2022.

Throw him to the wolves then he will let Benn pick at the carcus later.

Unless Mckinson is going tickle Ortiz to death with his feather duster punches, he is going to get well beaten. Full credit though for taking it, and I hope it’s big money. I would have much preferred Benn v Mckinson/Marku, but as Eddie doesn’t match his stable up I guess that was never on the cards.

I think Hearn calculates his earnings off potential boxers before deciding what risks to put them in with, which to be fair is what allmost all promoters do rightly or wrongly. For example, Benn can now headline sky shows (he might push him to PPV v.shortly which I don’t agree with) but he doesn’t need to take big risks to earn money off him, so he will prolong this for longer until he has to step him up to make money and then it’ll be the most lucrative option.

McKinson however is really not well known, even people who are keen boxing fans but not on the level of hardcore fans don’t really know who he is, and he doesn’t have a massive following or a style particularly entertaining. Therefore the only way Hearn really earns off him is if he wins big fights, so it makes sense to put him in riskier contests than someone who he doesn’t need to risk to make some coin off.

Not ideal really but I suppose that’s how the business works.

Good fight. Conman Benn could learn a thing or 2.

Too good an opportunity for someone like mckinson to turn down so fair play and good luck to him.bit surprised Ortiz has took this fight though, there was talk about him fighting avanesyan in an eliminator not long ago.probably just buying time now that the spence and ugas's belts are tied up now tbf.

Maybe or more likely to say McKinson needs to rebuild before earning the right to fight Benn.

Does this mean they don't Fancy the David Avanesyan fight?

Now they’ve announced Spence is fighting Ugas it looks as if he’s going the WBO route which is a wise move. If Ortiz can get rid of McKinson early 2022 then Crawford in May/June time makes sense as Crawford last fought in November. Ortiz and McKinson are #1 and #3 with the WBO.

With Ava's position with the WBC he is left with Danny Garcia, Jaron Ennis or Thulani Mbenge as his route to mandatory. My guess would be is he is picked up by Ennis or he defends his European belt again as hes not sellable to anyone but Mbenge but Warren cant sell that fight for the money hes paying.

My guess is we see Ava in with Jordy Weiss or Formella in a tickover
