Agreed.

A guy who is within an inch of becoming undisputed, yet he's fighting someone ranked 15th? Not looking good after Tommy ducking a Paul. Tyson AND Boxing are a joke. Matter of a fact, combat sports in general is a joke nowadays.

 

Kabayel is almost as bad as Whyte.

 

Kabayel doesn't bring much to the table for me.

 

The only really interesting opponent out there for Fury is Usyk.
Perhaps Joshua if he gets winning again, gets his confidence back.
In very distant third place, I'd say Otto Wallin, since he gave Fury a hard fight before.

Fights like Whyte and Kabayel or whoever are not interesting at all.
You might as wheel Chisora out for another go!

 

There are a lot of interesting bouts for Fury but they are obviously not going to happen. Joyce, Sanchez, Hrgovic, Hunter, Rice Pudding Jr... even people like Bakole that his trainer keeps ludicrously hyping up in a comical way.

Although I agree with your sentiment, I would not put Wallin in third place. A more motivated Fury would do him some serious harm. He was awful in that, under Davison.

A fight between Fury and Whyte was always going to be difficult to make due to the inevitable PBC/Frank Warren/Matchroom/Eddie Hearn dynamic, as well as Fury's natural reluctance to be dictated to.

I said several times it would surprised me if it happened, and although it still might happen. we are now looking at a complicated and convoluted process it seems.

Ultimately in a situation like this it's the sport that suffers. We don't get the fights we want, or they come with massive delays and people lose interest as the politics of boxing puts careers on hold.

 

Not surprised, it’s actually an easy fight for Fury. He gets a homecoming in England, can sell out Wembley / Old Trafford. Whyte isn’t signed with Matchroom, there’s no reason why the fight couldn’t be made.

It’ll be interesting to see who Fury fights next. Could he be matched up against Joe Joyce ? I wouldn’t be surprised if he fights Kabayel / Sanchez / Hunter.

Edit: just seen Joyce is out for a while with a wrist injury.

Maybe we see the winner of Charr Bryan against Fury

 

I'm not sure why so many on the forum are calling for this contest. Many are the same people who refer to Whyte as British level and no more than a Skelton or Sprott. What's the point in Fury fighting a complete no-hoper?

 

this is Dillians fault, he thinks he's worth more than the 80/20 split offered so he's taking it to arbitration. He didn't want to fight Joshua again and now he doesn't want to fight Fury. The guy is a clown and not interested in being heavyweight champion, if he was serious he would get the job done and take the split. They are obviously looking to cash out, I reckon they asked Eddie for more and he called their bluff (although that backfired). I hope the WBC remove him from the rankings and let a real fighter like Joyce get a shot.

 

Why would a mandatory challenger take a split below the minimum required?
Whyte can expect anywhere between 30% and 45%.

I think you might want to rethink whose fault it is...Fury's team is the one talking 80/20 splits, below minimum requirements...Sounds like it is Tyson's fault to me if you are looking to portion out blame to the fighters (I personally blame the WBC).

Care to explain these numerous WBC eliminators he has turned down? Or is this the usual one-eyed anti-Whyte narrative that isn't supported by any real world events?

It is interesting to think who Fury can get in the ring with him for a non-title fight. From what @Unforgiven says the title goes vacant if Fury loses. So you are looking for a fighter who just wants a pay day (less than a mandatory) and doesn't care about becoming champion.

That doesn't sound like Joyce.
I doubt Sanchez would be interest either, he's with PBC, is "young" and working his way into position for a legitimate title shot.

So you are left with fighters who just need an opportunity to raise their profile win or lose...I suspect it will be Kabayel (Top Rank)

 

Whyte is overvaluing himself. Fury purse only was $20 million last fight. He is not worth the usual 70/30 and they are right to bin the fight. Whyte saying he deserves 50/50 because he's interim champion. Ludicrous.

 

So you don't care about the rules, and just want to fan boy. Got it
