Because them and Loma posses different styles. Loma pretty much hates guys that press forward all night. He thrives off of being the pressure fighter, not being the guy forced on the back petal. I don't see Loma winning more than 3 rounds against Chavez. He would simply get pushed back and reset all night

This is the worse possible match up for Loma

Agreed. It's one of the reasons why I've always rated Usyk over Loma P4P. Loma is great when he comes forward, but when forced to stand his ground or back up he's less effective while Usyk is almost equally good pressing or on the back foot.

As you say it's a style issue, JCC would be a nightmare for Loma with his unrelenting pressure.

That's why I'd favor Pac to KO Lomachenko.

You're right, he did put a bad beating on Rosario.

I was mixing up Rosario's loss to Comacho.

Sweet Pea has to be one of the most grossly overrated fighters around here! So much for his defensive slickness, but how good was his offensive skills? His feinting skills, probing skills and his combination punching skills from variety of angles are multiple levels below Lomachenko, and that might still be an understatement.

There's a massive difference between having a great DEFENSE and simply being DEFENSIVE. Can you imagine just how unhittable Lomachenko would be if he decided to throw no more than 10 punches per round, instead prioritizing avoiding getting hit over not actually hitting his opponents? His opponents already land less than 20% of their total punches even though Lomacehnko is the one that mostly pressures them and fights on the front-foot. Now if Lomachenko wanted to be like Pernell, looking to evade getting hit at all costs, whilst trying to barely land any punches himself on his opponents, Pernell Whitaker would be long-history and would be totally and utterly obsolete. Lomachenko is an upgrade in every single department from the overrated Pernell Whitaker. The only thing Pernell was so great at, Lomachenko does even better without needing to be as exaggerative or be as passive or having to waste as much energy. Lomachenko is just on another level to that clown. So is Floyd Mayweather Jr. So is James Toney. Please don't compare Pernell Whitaker (garbage ass trash and pathetic offensive skills) to true legends like Lomachenko, Roberto Duran, Manny Pacquiao, or even Floyd Mayweather Jr and etc.

In case people didn't know, boxing comprises of offense just as much, if not more than defense. Thus, 'BOXING SKILLS' has to include 'OFFENSIVE SKILLS' too. And Pernell had absolute embarrassing offensive skills. Looking good while you're solely look to avoid getting hit without any intention to counter or to land anything yourself doesn't make you skilled, it makes you a passive avoider. True greats not only evade opponent's punches, but also counter them frequently like Lomachenko and Floyd Mayweather Jr and James Toney.

Lomachenko doesn't sit on the same table as Mayweather or Toney. Loma isn't on the same level as them

He's better than both at mid-range fighting, feinting (Toney barely ever feinted), had better combinations than Mayweather and could throw combinations from more angles than Toney and etc.

Please tell us what the overrated clown in Whitaker did better than Lomachenko? LMFAO! At least Mayweather had some advantages over Lomachenko (outside boxing and counter-punching skills). Whitaker was an offensive joke. His offense was outright horrendous and pathetic. Had horrible punch technique and etc.

Whitaker started out at lightweight and he weighed 157 pounds in the ring up at welter against Oscar (who FTR was 151) when he was Loma's age, that's way more than Loma who is a blown up 126 pounder. The reason Loma is able to campaign so successfully up at 135 against these giants who are much bigger and longer than him because his skill level is off the charts and he's very physically strong and tough too but after getting cheated against Salido and settling into the pros he looked untouchable at 126 and 130 (people forget that) and is by far the most skilled fighter in the game. Of his 3 defeats in 422 bouts (read that again) amateur and pro combined no one close to his own size has come close to beating him except his first loss Selimov and he avenged that loss x 2 and one of the other 2 losses shouldn't even be a loss.

Pea is a bit too big for him but skill wise they are about equal. Don’t let the nostalgia heads tell you Pea is levels above him, they are both outstanding, Pea just a bit too big and style wise I think this fight would suit him better than Loma, 8/4 7/5 clear but close

Personally, I consider Loma's best class is in 130.

Sure, his achievement in 135 exceeds his 130 by miles. But in 130, he really fits and looked comfortable there. His body, reach and height is close to the average of junior lightweight boxers. This enables him to fight in the inside or outside comfortably. This why he looked pretty much 'untouchable' in this class. No one could hurt him, no one could touch him. There were only two boxers who has the power to hurt him in this division, but one doesn't want to fight him (until now) and one got KOed by the guy Loma beat in amateur days.

While Loma would struggle to be included in everybody's top lightweight list, he would be easily one of the best 130s despite of his lack of achievement here.
