Shavers lost to a LHW early in his career while
Beterbiev comes in the ring at a gigantic 190lb+ however Beterbiev also got dropped by Callum Johnson

The man would basically be a heavyweight in Shavers day.

    Who takes it

Ahh, you beat me to it. Ha!

I think that Artur against any B level HW either past or present, would have been extremely competitive.

He hasn’t got the kind of speed and elusive movement that guys like Roy and Byrd had. So based on styles, I think he’d really have had to have dug deep to have fought these guys hard.

''The good thing about Beterbiev is that he doesn’t get any bigger than 191'' -- Iceman John Scully

And he's talking in between fights not ring weight

Shavers would win wtf. People underrate Shavers, he gave Ali a tough fight, dropped Holmes, dropped Lyle, stopped Ellis and Norton in one round. Keep in mind this is what many consider the best HW era. Beterbiev wouldn’t come close to any of these accomplishments, this isn’t a good matchup

Boxing has progressed by means of natural selection since those days. Beterbiev stops him along with most of Cassius Clays opponents minus Foreman and Holmes

Shavers lost to a lot of people:

    Bernardo Mercado
    Randall Craig "Tex" Cobb
    Stan Johnson
    Ron Stander
    Bob Stallings
    Jerry Quarry
    Ron Lyle
    Walter Santemore
    James Tillis
    George Chaplin

He wasn't the boogeyman that some modern-day boxing fans make him out to be. Beterbiev would break him down and knock him out.

Beterbiev hasn’t even done much as a LHW, saying he’s gonna be competitive in one of the best HW eras is ridiculous

Realistically the 1970's isn't competitive with the 2010's in any sport. Going life and death x3 with GOAT cruiser and unified HW champ Usyk and winning once > being KO'd by Ron Stander, Bernardo Mercado and Tex Cobb, losing and going the distance with a multitude of nonentities.

Just because he was a good amateur doesn’t mean he’s gonna automatically do well in competitive divisions he’s never fought in. Even p4p Beterbiev hasn’t accomplished as much as Shavers

Natural selection in terms of evolution? LOL, Evolution takes 10's of millions of years,, not 4 decades. Things have not changed in man's evolution since Shavers time. Technology has, science and nutrition has. Not enough to help Beterbiev against the 70's HW's though. Beterbiev= Zzzzzzzzzz

"Natural selection in terms of evolution? LOL"

Low-IQ. A recent example of natural selection in the HW division was the post-90's domination of 6'5+ SHW's; the 6'2, 210 lbs fighters got phased out of serious contention. He's using natural selection in a broad sense.

The thing about Beterbiev is he was an A+ amateur at 91 KG/cruiserweight-equivalent (the same size as 70's HW's) but with a style more suited to the pro game.

Shavers was never a champion and was beaten by the likes of Ron Stander and Bob Stallings. I don't see how he's better P4P than a fighter who has KO'd every opponent he's ever faced, the last 9 of which had never been KO'd previously and beaten an elite, undefeated champion in Gvozdyk.
