Good enough, and Louis himself wasn't a defensive wizard. Louis cannot take the heat but Bowe can. A small, short, flat footed HW from the 30s is not going to beat Bowe.
Usyk has a style to cause him a lot of problems but 12 rounds along time to survive. Louis I would favour over Bowe don't think anyone with Bowe's defence survives against Louis.
That would be dangerous against the best combination puncher of all time. Bowes best option is to try and score an aggressive early knockout but I can see him boxing Louis for the long haul.
Usyk is a good call. I also think 200 pound Cooper, Holyfield, Toney would give him trouble. What about Kenny Norton? He weight 205 in the Ali rematch and 202 Career lowest. Also Louis at 190-200 or Jimmy Young at 200.
A motivated James Toney would be problematic very durable and tough, Usyk would cause problems, a prime Michael Spinks isn’t a walkover and beat a better heavyweight when fighting under 200 pounds. Bowe is hardly King Kong, but in fairness, you are fishing in a really small pool to find someone who could cause issues against a good heavyweight giving upwards of 40 pounds against him.
I wonder if Ezzard Charles could have gotten a decision against Bowe. Sure he’d be at a massive disadvantage but the man was durable, fast skilled, and beat a lot of big punchers.
If anyone below 200 pounds could do it, it would be him. Especially if we're talking below 200 pounds on fight night.
