1972 Bob Foster vs 1983 Michael Spinks, 15 rounds at 175 lbs. Foster had brutally knocked out WBA champion Vicente Rondon in 2 rounds and Spinks had just outpointed Dwight Muhammad Qwai in 15 rounds, who wins and why?

Spinks by decision in a close tough fight, I just believe he would FIND a way to win.

It is plausible, the last time Foster went the full 15 rounds in a title defense was against Jorge Ahumada in 1974. Bob retained by a 15 round draw, he then retired as champion. Bob defended against Ray Anderson in 1971, Bob retained by unanimous decision.

I am with Richard, Spinks finds a way to win a decision, he was very resourceful.

I want to lean towards Spinks but I'm extremely leery against Bob Foster. His fantastic jab and power make this a toss up.

This would be one of the best 175 lb matchups of all time. Dangerous fight for both men. I would favor Michael spinks to win a decision or late stoppage but Foster would have a serious chance

A narrow points win for Spinks. But I recently watched a few fights
of his a few days ago. He Wasn't as impressive looking as I once
thought. Not just the awkwardness , the knee issues he had seemed to
be a problem when he was forced to retreat, his hands wasn't as fast
    as I thought also.
Against the powerful jab of Fosters , I see Spinks on the retreat more
    times than not.
Foster could win this, maybe easier than we may think.

This is my kind of fight. Spinks had a solid chin at LHW. And it wasn't so bad against Holmes, who packed a solid HW punch. Both have great jabs. But I like Spinks speed and agility more. Spinks on a points win or even late stoppage.

Heres an article where the writer picks Foster via decision.

Foster has a really good chance for an out of nowhere knockout. But more likely Spinks decisively decisions him.

Foster could potentially knock out anyone at 175 on the right night. The man was like the Joe Louis of the light heavy division

He had such a tremendous shot at that weight, scary power.

makes me wonder if he’d have a lot fewer losses if he wasn’t constantly fighting heavyweights

I'm confident that would have been the case.
