I don't really see any way for Saad to win aside from scoring a big Hail Mary punch and I think the chances of that happening are pretty unlikely.

 

It's more than likely Archie would just be too slippery.

 

I love Saad but it's a mismatch ..

 

I was a huge Matthew Saad Muhammad fan back in the day.

Most of his title fights seemed to follow the same pattern of him taking a lot of punishment early, falling behind on the cards and rallying later for a stoppage or doing enough to pull out the points win (a la Conteh I).

But I knew it was over when he signed to fight Qawi. Matthew was ring-worn but as you said, it was just a bad matchup for MSM and Qawi was going to land at will and was too hard to hit clean for Saad to rally.

 

Totally agree Pat. I know Saad was favorite in the first match but i don't think it was by much. The question had been asked when would he run out of miracles for quite some time given the punishment he'd been absorbing. We know now Braxton/Qawi was extremely underrated going into that fight as he just hadn't fought that many contenders.
