Or is it a pipe dream at this point? It will be a real shame for boxing if that fight never happens. It will always be one of those "what ifs" like Foreman and Quarry.
Wilder is still an enigma On his day he could KO anyone in a violent and spectacular way but also lose comprehensively to any one with half decent skills
If it wasn't going to happen when it was the premiere fight in boxing and there were obscene amounts of money being thrown around, why would it happen now that it is just another fight between two guys with dramatically decreased earning potential.
I think it still does great money. The losers career would be over though so I can't see it happening. Wilder is probably more up for it than Joshua who will be "rebuilding" after losing to Usyk again. In my opinion. Wilder has less to lose as he's about to retire anyway.
I think that ship has sailed never to return. No titles, 2 ex champions, neither needing the purse which would be much below that which they are used to, so no do not think they will fight each other.
I doubt we'll ever see Wilder in the ring again. There's no one for him to fight- he isn't going to fight any dangerous top 10 opposition, and he's not going to go back to fighting hordes of C, D, and E level fighters to work his way back up the rankings. He's done, and his delusional, egotistical mindset will make it nigh impossible for him to recover from the Fury losses.
After Usyk has KO'd AJ why do we need to see Wilder do it with his touch of death? It's a damn shame AJ keeps losing, I wanted Fury to be the one to brutally take his 0. The hypejob would have fell fast and hard,
Remember Wilder chose Fury basically as a cherry pick for the first fight. When Fury rolled off the sofa and was grossly obese, he was supposed to increase Wilder's bargaining power. Now all this back-fired badly and a fight with AJ will likely not happen anymore because of this cherry-pick gone wrong.
I can't see it happening. The value of that fight is vastly diminished with both having lost their titles. Joshua only wanted it because it was the last belt he needed to become undisputed right now Wilder is behind Usyk and Fury in terms of priority so I don't see him even entertaining the idea of a Wilder fight until he's fought one or both of them. Even if Joshua wanted the fight, I'm sure we'll just end up with another stupid dispute over purse split with Wilder demanding too much again.
Doubt Wilder will be the same, the fights against Fury will have diminished him and affected his capacity to take punishment in future bouts
I don't think so, and the main reason is that dumb ***** Wilder. Sorry but both he and Fury has been in the HW scene 5 years before Joshua made his debut. There was more than decent contenders like: Haye Whyte Parker Povetkin(in his prime or close to it) Pulev Ruiz Usyk now Joyce and so on He didn't even try to get in the right with anyone decent. I mean yeah on paper you may favor him against most of this guys, but realistically, all it took is 1 shot and everything can change in the HW one punch is enough. Also you may have a bad camp, and your opponent to have a top one, you may have a bad night in the office, your opponent to have a great one. If you fight dangerous opponents that turn out to be in shape and that's how surprises happen. People may p*** on AJ but at least he try to fight the best and Unify the division, Wilder never ever even shows a sign to do so.
Maybe. If AJ loses the rematch to Usyk, Then Fury - Usyk would be expected. And AJ might face Wilder for third place.
