AJ has fought dfive opponents that would be Furys best win after Wlad. Then Takam would be in Furys top 4 opponents. Even a poor opponents Breazeale woul
Carlos Monzon had around 70 pro fights and fought a guy making his pro debut. There’s one example off the top of my head.
Having so many belts is garbage, but if champions keep fighting mandatories and unifications we have a better chance of seeing the fights we want. Starting with Wlad here's how Joshua's title defenses looked.. Unification Mandatory Unification Mandatory Voluntary (lost) Mandatory Mandatory (lost) And you can be pretty sure if he didn't lose he would have unified with the WBC by now. The Fury fight was happening if Joshua could remain undefeated while Fury finished the Wilder saga, and he still went and fought bloody Usyk. Find it weird when Joshua gets stick for his opponents, never quite sure what people think he should have done differently and when.
Last I heard, the Whyte fight is mandated by the WBC. So it could be that. Fair enough, I hope you're wrong. Helenius would be a joke.
Joshua doesn't deserve to get stick. The sanctioning bodies do though, for making some of the mandatories.
Chavez had a lot of tune ups. Ali had some. All good champions have tune ups. Whyte will be seen as a ****ing tune up if Fury fights him.
I don’t necessarily think it’s the top fighters that want the tune up, it’s the promoters wanting them to head a bill against a nobody to save money on purse fees. “need to get him back out under the lights” is always used before a top fighter blows someone away in a heartbeat. that’s why I love UFC, your not allowed to just swan in and fight a cab driver, either fight the best/even match up or leave the promotion.
You guys take this too seriously. Forget the politics. Helenius is a poor opponent. He got stopped by Gerald Washington and Dillian Whyte beat him several years ago. He isn't even a top 20 heavyweight. If Fury chooses not to fight Whyte, he has no excuse to not fight a good heavyweight. It's not like it's a mandatory being enforced on him. Wallin hasn't done anything notable apart from getting lucky against Fury in that fight due to the cut. He outboxed Brezeale who isn't very good. That's it.
Takam was a last minute replacement, and I think Pulev and Povetkin deserved a shot as much as anyone else who was waiting and willing. Who else was there considering Wilder and Fury were tied up?
Don't have much of a problem with your mcd comment but he didn't draw with Wilder did he?? You honestly think that was a draw? That is a worse robbery than the fight you mentioned!
but both results stand furys win and a draw so i very debatable but fury did beat mcd comfortably when he did what he wouldnt do with vlad !
