I was pondering this match-up and didn't know what to make of it. On the one hand, Moorer is the harder puncher, Usyk has the better chin. Both are well schooled. Moorer came up from light heavyweight and Usyk from CW. And both had considerable success at heavyweight. Neither would have the southpaw advantage in this fight and it would look similar to two orthodox fighters fighting each other.
Michael was a very good fighter, but when he was under the lights against top operators he sometimes had the impression of a deer in the headlights and not performing to his best. Usyk has the mentality and seemingly just performs in the big moments. Usyk doesn’t just stand there and get hit, I think he negates Moorer advantages and wins on points.
He had some serious mental issues. I am not a doctor, but I think he might be a bit autistic. Anyway, Usyk easily. Moorer's reputation is enhanced by his win over Holyfield, when Evander was having a heart attack. You just would never see Usyl being starched in 1 like Moorer against Tua, or struggling with Bert Cooper.
No, he wasn't/ He gave away the first tow rounds, like he almost always does. Moorer was rocked against Leslie Stewart. His chin is THAT bad.
I never saw the Stewart fight. I did see him get up after being mauled by Bert Cooper in there own "Lyle vs Foreman" and Cooper's power stands for itself. I am not implying Moorer has a great big bill made of steel but calling his chin bad is a bit of a stretch.
Moorer couldn`t have taken the right hands AJ landed on Usyk and Usyk would have easily handled Stewarts power.
