Yeah, but he won't be considered that. The general public think Canelo is the best thing they've ever seen. And then there's the LDBC Floyd lovers who think Errol Spence is the best of the era despite being outboxed by a drained Kell Brook for 7 rounds before the eye injury. The LDBC drool over Spence and worship him like a god. Usyk is just some Ukrainian nobody to most people. By the time this era is done, it'll be Spence, Canelo and Tank who get all the credit.
If he were to unify heavyweight and not take an L I’d say he would be…. But the casuals wouldn’t, They only go by name or social media recognition.
He'd be the world heavyweight champion. In the true sense. "Fighter of the generation", "pound for pound" etc. is all a load of crap. World heavyweight champion is the real prize.
Usyk is a great fighter but he needs to fight another great before his career is over, for him to be remembered as an ATG.
If he beats AJ in the re-match and then wins & unifiys against Fury, yes. That cuts the mustard for me. And if he has, and wins 1 or two more fights after that then even more so. Into the sunset he goes, complete with 'O's
He is certainly in the conversation if he beats AJ again and then Fury. This in combination with his unified CW belt would be historic. The conversation has to include Floyd, Pac and Canelo, however. It's impossible IMO to pick ONE guy when there are many very good boxers and some great ones out there.
