I read people saying Benitez trained VERY little, comedically so leading up to the Leonard fight and at times just forgoing the process all together for the night life. OBVIOUSLY he isn't a lazy guy, those skills didn't just come out of the womb with him what I am talking about is the pre fight process when he was meant to get in shape or be sparring ect do we have many or any sources to confirm this?

Also at that particular point in time, it was rumored that Wilfred Benitez was romantically involved with Sugar Ray Leonard's sister, which could lead writers to insinuate that Benitez was not training as hard as he could have leading up to his title defense against Leonard.

He trained very hard until... he became adolescent. Since he's had a taste of temptations

I read - sorry, can't recall source - that he was lazy in the gym unless a pretty girl came/was brought in. Then he would train like a madman. Kind of endorses the opinion of @Amos-san I think.

Mm, I honestly think a lot of this has been invented to paint Wilfred into the light as this overwhelmingly talented guy. I can’t find anything expect people saying things like “Benitez trained a week for Ray Leonard” ect.

I've read that he was lax in training, and have also read that such claims aren't true, proof being that he somehow always made weight and fought with equal intensity in the Kate rounds of fights he was not supposed to have trained for.

Mhm, my thoughts exactly there is every piece of evidence to suggest he did put in the work before a fight.

And by "Kate" rounds I mean "late."

Apologies to Misses Hepburn and Beckinsale.
