Whyte and Hearn are going to take it to the Supreme Court, along with a dozen unpaid parking tickets.

    Appeal, appeal, appeal.

How do they expect me to live on less than ten million, Koogz? Man's gotta eat.
    Yeah definitely.

Man's got kids and a big fake brother to feed.

Other fighters might think...wow, an opportunity to fight for a world title, huge domestic fight, PPV money...I could make my 20% massive if I sell it with my gob and I actually chin this lad. But not hard done to Whyte who's never won a world title who's whole selling foundation came from wobbling Joshua.

On what grounds can you even appeal that?

The WBC reserve the right to set the purses as they see fit. The rules say "up to 45%" not "at least 45%".

The trouble is all this bollocks may end up kicking the undisputed fight another 6 months down the road. Not that slimy Hearn cares because his boys won't be involved.

Exactly - if Whyte and his team truly believe he can win, you’d accept the fight even with a 5% cut. It’s mental to keep appealing it and holding up the entire heavyweight landscape.

Eddie Hearn and Dillian Whyte holding up the division, and these guys are meant to he good for boxing.

Whyte, as expected, doing everything to get out of the fight which he has a history of doing, so he can set up a PPV fight with Dominic Breazeale in May or so, scrape home via SD after being knocked down 3 times by this low level journeymen, and then we hear him and Hearn screaming the hard done by card that we always hear and how all the big guns are 'ducking' him, which no one apart from his diehards believe, which then leads to him holding up the division again with his 2000 days as WBC mandatory rubbish and Matchroom FC telling the world what does he have to do to get a title shot blah blah blah.....

    Sorry mate but that's nonsense.

When I'm confident I can do a job and do it well, I want to be paid well. If an opportunity is too good for my CV, I might accept a bit less than my normal rate with view to improving my reputation.

But I'm not going to reduce my rates to a derisory level. Word gets around that "unfriendlyorchid works for minimum wage" and I've devalued myself and my work.

Quite literally, this process has proved the folly of declaring a lower purse ($300k in Gib being used as evidence to support an 80/20 split).

I am sure there's a number that Whyte and his team would accept, but to say that not accepting a derisory cut is a sign of no confidence is laughable.

FWIW: I agree with you that this risks holding the entire division up again. I hope Whyte and his team can find that acceptable number. The sooner, the better. I'd love to watch Fury v Whyte, it'd be a great warm up before watching Fury fight for the undisputed later in the year.

The last few times I've seen Dillian fight, he's barely been able to walk to the ring, he looks like an old man hobbling along. Not as bad as Povetkin who knocked him out cold, it has to be said, but it's still very strange.

I've mentioned before, he turned down 6 million quid to fight Joshua, money that the Matchroom zealots on here can only dream of when examining his CV and getting excited about the purses of men who don't even know they exist.

Who knows, Whyte could well have beat Joshua instead of Ruiz and have been holding his belts as we speak.

Totally makes a mockery of great fighters from times gone by, who fought and were paid peanuts doesn't it, the money was important to them obviously, but at least they fought regardless...

I agree. People getting behind Whyte on this is an insult to all those hungry challengers from the past.

To make matters worse, Whyte's not even that good.

    Fury is a problem too.

Every time he beats "the man" he immediately has problems. Some blame has to lay with him. And he wants a "tune up"? It's a farce.

It's obvious what Dillians plan was from the off once he lost to AJ. Hope AJ never loses, Whyte makes a ton during that time, then he gets the big payday with AJ and retires.

There needs to be a Super 6/KO tournament for this division. Pointless rematches, final eliminators which have rematch clauses, nobody willing to work together etc.

Hopefully Whyte will see sense and they can get this fight done.
If he doesn't take his opportunity now, he's bound to regret it.

He'll be begging Eddie to get him on Conor Benn PPVs a couple of years down the line. And then Eddie stops answering his phone. David Haye comes knocking on his door offering to promote his comeback. Zizora in Argos, in Riga, Latvia, for the WTF belt recently vacated by Danny Williams, a quick defense against Arnold Garbage Gjerjaj .... hoping to land a Triller contract to fight a 63 year old Holyfield on a Tommy Fury show, but alas that's just a big pipe dream.

Whyte deserves the blame for this he should have took the fair 25% offer from arum.

You make some important points that are also congruent with my beliefs. One would be crazy not to optimise their potential return in any business transaction. I think you are bang on, but there are other things that spring to my mind too.

I can't speak for others, but I would imagine that Furious and many others on the forum, including myself, believe that Whyte does not have justifiable scope with which to bargain - and in turn is needlessly initiating a potentially enduring process with implications for the rest of the division.

If a candidate is presented with a position that was seemingly out of reach, then presumably the candidate still has good experience and qualifications that merits the offer in the first place. I am a fan of Whyte, and I think, looking at some of the horrendous names to be given chances to fight for a belt, that he does deserve a chance. Of course, it's wise to negotiate high, but if he ends up scuppering the chance to compete in a mega-bout, after already declining Joshua, it will simply be unthinkable. Whyte has a good record, but he does not have a record that justifies declining 20% (plus commision, I would imagine) at the worst case scenario. At worst case scenario, he will still end up taking home something like £2,000,000 net. The rest of his life is sorted - but boxers being immersed in a celebrity lifestyle, tagging along with materialists like Hearn, will have a completely warped perspective of what it means to only be a multi-millionaire and therein lies the problem.

If Whyte is dissatisfied with only taking him a couple of million pounds, then he should work on being able to move his feet at least as quickly as a 50 year old county Squash player, and moving his head around a little bit, and perhaps honing his physicality for practical purposes, not just to look like a big hard man on Instagram.
