Buchanan going back in time fights at WW...

Tony coming forward in time fights at FW.

Big Stature Gap... Tony C is the better man, but is Kenny too big?

I prefer the 'proposed' reality, never the two would meet!

Buchanan fought when they still had same day weigh-ins... and never weighed more than 138 for any fight, even when he didn't have to make weight. When he met Donato Puduano in a 1970 welterweight non-title fight at MSG, he was only 136 - giving away 10lbs to his 146 opponent!

So Buchanan was clearly not a fighter who struggled with coming in under the LW limit... so why on earth would he be fighting at WW in Canzoneri's time?

STATURE, he is NOT going back into the 20s & 30s with a 1980s Psyche, we ALL do as Our Times & Peers.

a fella Buchanan's SIZE doesn't fight below WW 'typically' so why would Ken?

likewise going into the 1980s a fighter Tony C Stature & SIZE isn't a WW, they are FWs cum LWs.

you can't make these matches without including the Way things ARE, in each & every time period!

What a great fight this would be. It would be so much fun. I think Kens's style and temperament would get him there given his advantages in height and reach, but that's not saying much really. Loads could happen.

Back in those days Rocky Kansas was a LW world champion at only 5'2" - while 5'9" Panama Al Brown was BW champ.

Obviously, height isn't the only factor in play, when it comes to the division you settle in.

Buchanan was a skinny guy, and at 5'7½" not really that tall (for a lightweight). When he fought for the EBU LW title he weighed only 130lbs. He was clearly a guy, who was able to come in below the LW limit, without any trouble at all. Why he would decide to fight at WW, back in the day, makes no sense to me!

This post doesn't make any sense to me.
There have been plenty of tall lightweights 5'7" and over
    Williams
    Ortiz
    Brown
    Ishimatsu
    Duran
    Bratton
    To name a few.
As far as the matchup I'd give Canzoneri a slight shade, and I would want to be there.

I'm talking AVERAGE Men at their own respective weights...

Kenny a 5' 8" Man who walked around ether side of 150lbs, in those times would have done precisely the exact same as his Contemporaries.

he wouldn't do any different to them and UNLIKE His OWN Time, he doesn't have 3 months or more to make LW...

he would have in a 100 or More Fight Career - Like Fighters at those times, he would have on average 3-6 weeks to tune up for fights - that is why MOST Fighters THEN fought in Divisions In & Around their natural weight!

the Reverse for Canzoneri today... 5'6" walking around at 140lbs has 3-4 months to make 126lbs.

Buchanan is 5 feet 7 and a half inches tall , just half an inch taller than Duran.
Ike Williams was five feet nine , Johnny Bratton five feet ten.

AVERAGE Size of 1920's peers fighting at their natuaral weights, a 5' 8" Kenny fights at WW... not talking exceptions, talking the Vast Majority of LWs and/or WW and/or ANY Weight for that matter - the Average Size of the fighters in any said weight divisions, NOT the few tall skinny minorities.

Buchanan is 5 feet 7 and a half inches tall. Ike Williams at 5 feet 9inches tall was NOT skinny.Neither was Ortiz , Ishimatsu, or Duran at 5 feet 7 .

We're not talking about fighters outside of the early mid 1900s, Ike is the only Tall Thin fighter at those lower weights, he was in the Minority, MOST of his Contemporary LWs were either side of 5'7" or smaller... so Kenny THEN would be fighting in a Higher weight Division.

Carl Froch at 6'1" walking around at 200lbs, is NOT fighting from the turn of the Century until the 1960s at 160lbs, NEVER. He would be fighting at either side 180lbs - a L-HW cum HW - just as his THEN Contemporaries were doing... that is the point, you, me, anybody are not going to live at any 'other' time in History and do life different to that time periods people. it applies to everyone.

    Terris
    Ross
    Petrolle
    Mandell
    Berg
All 5 ft 7 or over
    More recent
    Fields
    Jenkins
    Angott
    Montgomery
    Laguna
    Ramos
    Ortiz
    Duran
    Ishimatsu
    Brown
    Bratton

And these were just champions I haven't looked to the contenders!
All you are asked to do in this thread is make a pick between two light weight champions
    AS THEY ACTUALLY WERE.
Sorry I don't think you have a point here.

Still NOT the VAST Majority of fighters in smaller weight divisions.

Kenny at 5'8" and either side of 150lbs with only weeks between fights, is NOT competing as a LW THEN, never,,,

again, he would do exactly as the VAST Majority of his Then Peers Were doing, and that would be fighting at Welterweight...

so to the posed Post Question him and Tony C are NEVER meeting in ANY Era!
