Smith has a very good gas tank, tbh.

That kayo didn't actually happen, by Stussy logic, because all two dozen or whatever of those punches from Smith in his finishing salvo were partially blocked which means apparently, by the certified bonkers transitive property of pugilistic analysis, they were a hundred percent blocked. :deal:

So let's stay tuned for the start of R10, guys, once they clear this up.

    Aaaaaaany minute now.

Didn't Vlasov actually beat him, though? I just can't stand guys holding onto belts when the are clearly not the best or even second best in the division. Sign the Bivol rematch, or Beterbiev, and let's get him out of the way.

Geffrard looked really slick for a few very short periods but he didnt want it anywhere near enough and took the first opportunity he had to get out. Disappointing ending but not a terrible fight for a late replacement

I have no idea why the odds on this were only -1000. I’ve seen guys with much more chance of victory be 2-3x the underdog. Geffrard had little hope on a full camp. He had zero chance on 8 days notice.

The problem with resting on stats(compubox) in boxing, is it byiself is still subjective. These punch counts are still manually counted by guys ringside, so its possible for them to see a punch we might not see, or even not see a punch that we might see. Its the reason judges dont rely on compubox to score fights.

"The system calls for two operators. Each operator watches one of the two fighters and has access to four keys, corresponding to jab connect, jab miss, power punch connect, and power punch miss. The operators key in the different punches as they happen, collecting punch counts and hit percentages along the way."

I am too but he is dangerous more importantly if he fights Beterbiev he is fighting another juggernaut but what makes Smith great to watch is he is like Marciano he believes in his power and effort as long as the man can fight he is dangerous....after all their arent alot of men who can land most of their punches on the gloves of an opponents and break them down anyway he has some serious thud

Yes, I understand. But it's a pity. :nusenuse:

geffrard looked like he had enough to try at least. The little bit he showed us was not bad. He got only 8 days to prepare the fight too, so, well... probably I'm too harsh on him.

    Steve Geffrard

Not even a top 100 fighter @ light heavyweight
Never fought more than 8 rounds
Only ever had 1 fight scheduled for 12 rounds
Only ever had 1 fight scheduled for 10 rounds
Never done anything remotely notable as a pro

What the hell was anyone thinking put him in the ring with the champ, even as a late notice replacement. This was a monstrosity.

So I suppose the common view here is that Beterbiev spanks Joe Smith jr and jr is just a come forward plodder with heavy hands. I think he's a better technician than given credit for within his obviously limited toolbag and think its a close fight either way

Geffrard was as I suspected very competent but problem is when the commentary team say Smith is a machine they're not wrong. Not only does he hit very hard with both hands but he has a hell of an engine on him and he can throw a very high percentage of power shots and not tire. He's also very tough too and very difficult to keep off of you. Geffrard was tough as well and one thing I noticed beforehand is that he looked big for the weight with a large head and what with him being the #ranked HW in country for a couple of years he was used to taking the shots of 200lb plus men.

Smith needs to throw the straight right hand down the pipe more as he hurt Geffrard with it and KO'd Alvarez with one too.
