Comes across well in interviews, big strong lad at 6'6 and still only 30, obviously there is the rivalry with Joe Joyce but where does he fit in the pro ranks and how far can the lad go? Debut on Khan v Brook undercard. This content is protected
I see him going same route as Joyce. He wont stick around at donestic level, maybe not as quick as Joyve in terms of development but can absolutley be fast tracked
Lovely chap and a decent boxer with a strong jab. Big unit but too old to start off and pad a record out. Needs to be fast tracked.
I didn't think that Joyce was up to much to begin with, but in retrospect I didn't know that much about him. I think this guy looks nowhere near as good as Joyce ever has, but I haven't seen much of him at all. Do people think he is any good? I have to say that he doesn't look it to me. He is tall and is in relatively good shape (for HW standards), so if he has a chin he will probably be able to do okay at least.
As you say he comes across well. I know you say he’s only 30 but he’s gonna want to be going against a borderline top 10 Brit within 5 fights imo (Gorman, Ali, Webb sort of level) Intrigued to see how he gets on
He has got nice potential but can BOXXER figure out how to lead him the right way and build him up with suitable opponents ? They do not have that much time so it is extremely important that it is done in the right way. I hope he will become a succes.
He’s nowhere near as good as Joyce - and I say this as someone who likes Clarke. Clarke and Joyce were both on the GB squad probably in 2009/10 until they’ve both turned pro. Clarke was overlooked twice in 2012 and 2016 for the Olympics spot too. Joyce beat him regularly in the amateurs, they met in the ABA final most years. I think the last time they fought Joyce stopped him. Only thing I’d be key worried about for Clarke is his face takes damage really easily. Been cut quite a lot as an amateur.
This content is protected Joyce was always destined for the top level. I’ve never seen a chin like it since vitali. Big frazer does seem to like a tear up so hopefully will be in some good fights
This was the one I was on about. Great amateur bout. I would hate to box Joyce at heavyweight, he never looks bothered and just keeps ploughing forward. Everything you see about him makes you think he should be rubbish and getting stopped regularly, but he’s just an animal.
Put him 50 years ago and he’d have been in some of the most entertaining fights ever - imagine him and Foreman - it would be like Foreman / Lyle supercharged! Same with ones against the likes of Norton and Shavers. I really want to see Joyce fight now!
